We really need a thread of the humiliations that this sport puts its winners through on the podiums. Today had a great combination of inappropriate furniture, unopenable bottles, ridiculous trophy and undignified exit from the stage.
Trentin's classics results are way worse than they should be, I've lost count the number of times he's been one of the strongest in a race and then finished like 27th, so it's nice to see him actually win something.
Also one of the very few guys who didn't get worse when he left Quickstep. He has been one of the best all-round riders in the peloton for years. Most times making the final selection and giving himself the opportunity, but found it hard to be able to match the best to the very end. There has always been someone stronger or faster for him to be able to win the most prestigious races.
He has had a great career though. 27 wins is very good. Stages won throughout every GT. 2 Paris-Tours. The EC.

Yep. That one was the final nail in the coffin. I was wanting him to win but I knew it was over for sure when he did that.Shame he went after Dewulf's ultimate attack. Could've been a nice win for the Belgian(s), and it could've killed the faster guys letting them close the gap. Campi doesn't have the tactical insight (yet).
