Anyone else seen the new LeMond section on Eurosport.

According to his wife, LeMond is returning to the Tour again because he feels it is 'authentic' once more which it wasn't during the Lance years!!!

He described Sean Kelly as a stud!!!

He also raves about the Renault team he was on mentioning Hinault, Fignon and how they dominated the 84 Tour winning 10 stages!!!

So looks like LeMond believes Froome dog is 'authentic'. No calling out dopers like Fignon or Kelly, in fact he shows admiration for these dopers.

To think LeMond is held up as some sort of anti-doping hero. There was enough ammunition in 10 minutes to blow that myth out of the water.

He has the same disease as Walsh: a validation complex ;)

He did the same for Armstrong and Landis.

He has been strongly anti-doping his entire career, but does not spend a lot of time calling out individuals, rather promoting ways of reducing doping.

To be fair, Sean Kelly was a stud! A doped stud, I grant you, but still... ;)

Yup. Been covered.
Greg was running his hand through his hair and saying how Landis had raced clean, and the proof was, look, he got tired and had a bad day in the mountains then came back and had a good day. "That," LeMond said, "is what happens when riders race clean." He also said what a great person Landis was and how well the French would receive him and how, just a couple of months ago, he had met Floyd's father and really thought Floyd's father was a fine person.

Quite an interesting read though, from a few years back.

Whatever Happened to Greg LeMond?

Calling out dopers (or suspicions) is no doubt a legal minefield and we know Greg has been caught in that before so he may see focussing on anti doping efforts as more worthwhile / less hassle.

GL: 'I would not have any problem accepting an apology from him if I thought it was indeed sincere..'

i think greg is being diplomatic.

he knows the texas deflated bully is plenty capable of self-pity and, at most. a damage-control 'sorry', but not a sincere, heart-felt apology.

frankly, if i was in greg's shoes, i'd answer the question, 'fork that sore loser'

Yes. Calling out dopers is bad for business. That's why cycling will never change.

They had Offredo on that Lemond show. Offredo talked about Lemond being a legend and then Lemond had a photo of Offredo in Lemonds glasses and laughed - "he probably wasn't born".

Did the producers realize Offredo had a doping ban lol.

Anyway as goes Lemond's views on doping, I do recall he said something a few years ago about believing its the riders who test positive for the major drugs like epo - who should be banned, and that he gives benefit of the doubt to those who test positive for smaller ****. I recalled that because I was thinking if he would call Contador out as a doper when he has to comentate on Contador winning, if it comes to that.

Good post, how does this fit in with your Kimmage thingie Skybot-questionmark.

Not sure what that is supposed to mean exactly but to put the two together, maybe Kimmage should be asking 'So Greg, what is it about these dopers you admire so much'.

Maybe LeMond will respond 'Well Paul, you said you quit the sport because of doping. Well I won 3 Tours clean during the same period, so really you must have been just crap'.

The context is Offredo was suspended for a year after three violations within an eighteen month period, two of which were late submissions and the third a missed test due to his last-minute presence at a race.

Just watched Le Monde on Eurosport basically state the the reason Schlek has not come back to form is no dope, he put it as " the changes in the peleton and anti doping "..stuttered a bit and said I'm not saying he was involved but the sport has changed..LOL.

It IS truly amazing how grown men turn to jelly and doe eyed when talking and meet professional bike riders.

Lemond said nothing after last years performance by Sky and Froome - just like frankie andreu - Money Talks.

Thank god we still have Kimmage.

Actually by the end of the race both were questioning Froome, but don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant

LeMond has a bike business to sell.

Has he made a decision to do business and get back into the world of dirty sport and all that entails, seems so and a dig at Shleck who rides for Trek.

Sport is business and the message is important, just ask JV who has been selling cleanER cycling for ages with nothing to back it up except speeds were down, which was not true.

The sport now is about as authentic as 1998!

Jens Voight 40+ Horner 40+ still able to ride for 3 weeks tells us how cleanER this peloton is!
