Live tracking on gps cycling computer

I am looking at buying an affordable but reliable gps cycling computer. I am new to these but one feature that I would like to have is live tracking so that my wife who get concerned with me riding alone can know where I am if she wants. I live in Bogota Colombia and do not have a smart phone but is there a way to sync any gps device to a laptop so that she can see where I am? Or do only certain devices have this ability? Again, new to this so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't think most GPS cycle computers will do that without a connection to a smartphone to transmit the data. I'm also not sure how reliable they are. You can get GPS tracker devices but they all need some kind of connection to a network which means a monthly fee so added expense. Something like this in your jersey pocket:

http://www.oxfordproducts.com/motorcycle/brands/oxford/tracker/oxford_tracker/

subscription charges:
12 Months £60 (equiv. £5 per month)
24 Months £108 (equiv. £4.50 per month)
36 Months £144 (£3 per month)

You would have to contact them to make sure these charges apply to Colombia and what the coverage is like.

MapMyRide has offered this for years. It's the main reason I still use it.
