LOTR films don't age well

I've been watching a few clips of the Lord of the Rings on YouTube today.

While the storytelling is still pretty decent (not as good as in the books, though), the image feel of the film hasn't aged too well. I don't know why, but I find it harder to sustain suspension of disbelief now than when I first saw the films over a decade ago.

That's weird, I've been told youtube on a computer screen is the best way to watch those epic movies.
I don't know, some scenes look really fake (not in the sense that they contain Nazgûl and other fantasy creatures, but in the sense that big crowds and certain backgrounds look so, so obviously computer-generated).

This.

I even tried to look at the Dwarf trilogy, but couldn't get past the first half an hour or so of the first episode.

Never understood the hype. Lousy dialogs, bad acting (which could be a result of the former), and a story that doesn't really make you associate or identify with any of its main characters.

A bit like Harry Potter.
