It's not like it's Porte and Contador he is up against, Alaphilippe is limited when it comes to 40' climbs. Henao should lose a good chunk tomorrow. Poels is dangerous though, but he is hit-and-miss.

when was the last time LLS was in this kind of form? I wouldn't be surprised if he climbed with at least the 2nd best climbers on the mountain stage.

Or most importantly, not up against the best one week stage racer, Alejandro Valverde. True story. Definitely had taken him over Porte and Contador, especially on this route. ;)

Still completely open race IMO, but Luis should be the favourite and he will have a great domestique in Fuglsang on stage 6 where LLS is limited compared to some of the others. Interesting race for sure.

This. Valverde isn't in this race. Sanchez should be the favorite at this point. Alaphilippe isn't the climber that Valverde is let alone the climbers that Contador, Landa, Porte, etc are. Poels and possibly Soler may be his biggest threats. In the case of Soler it's probably more about confidence and experience.

Izagirre bros. could be really dangerous on this course...

For sure...and Gorka especially seems to have found some good form.

I still think Ion is more dangerous than Gorka.

Gorka is more explosive and can take bonus secs but the time trial and Valdeblore La Colmiane is more in Ion's favor.

Gorka beat Ion in the TT last year.

I think the GC between Fuglsang and LLS is decided now. :D

Sanchez problem's is the MTF on Saturday. But if he can pull off a great TT, get in top 3 in the stage to Vence and take intermittent sprints bonuses.. he should have a good chunk of time before Valdeblore La Colmiane.

I think it was basically decided a few days ago, probably smartest to back the guy who lost just two seconds to the stage winner - and therefore, since it was the first stage, the race leader - rather than the guy who lost almost two minutes.
