I read way too many stories like this to not totally disregard it. I know the Fail is rubbish, but I also visit a car forum with American members, and they are very annoyed by cyclist behavior generally and things like the critical mass movement (google it, it's redicilous) in particular. Crossing red lights, disobeying traffic rules in general but most of all acting from a moral high ground because they're cycling and not driving are the most heard complaints.
Some people in the Netherlands complain about cyclists, too, but not nearly as many. I have the same experience in Italy or France, where I both cycled and drove a car, there seems to be a mutual understanding. Most of all, when I cycle, I always make sure that cars can easily pass me if it's possible, by staying right (and NOT taking the high ground by cycling a meter away from the pavement, it's bull**** and invites dangerous behavior of cars and I don't blame them) and all. When I'm in a car, I'm very courteous towards cyclists behaving according to the rules, but I've also met the type of cyclists described in the article. I tend to harrass them as well, simply because I hate holier than thou behavior.
