For those of you not there, Pat McQuaid was booed and heckled by a substantial number of the crowd when he came on stage to present the prizes at London's Olympic test event yesterday.

Time to deal with doping and the dopers, Paddy. Cycling fans are intelligent and informed!:p

I think there has been more sightings of Gadaffi than McQuaid over the last 6 months.

McQuaid should quit. London and it's police force should quit. They should move the Olympics to Greece forever so they can make back some of the cash they squandered on all the pools, stadiums and other BS from the last time.
Most important rule is that any cyclist that wants to compete should do so as an non-pro.If you made more than 2000 a month w prize money, federation stipend you should be disqualified. Give the games back to non-pros. Now that there are only a few semi-commie states left us complain about China cheaters and be done with it

I hope that it gets to the level of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman. Here's a clip of him presenting the Stanley Cup in 2009, but it could be any year in recent memory.

McQuaid is elbowing his way into the IOC (hence his podium appearance at London), normal career progression for him, they, brush the doping issues under the carpet too.

There was an AP interview done at the UK event and it's widely published. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700171782/AP-Interview-Cycling-president-sees-golden-era.html

In it, McQuaid is heavily promoting his new corporation collecting money for events in China and other places.

And then there's the new 'golden era' of clean cycling. A golden era of no testing is more like it.

From the quoted Deseretnews article.

I would have liked to be a fly on the wall when these two persons, Putin & Verbruggen, were in conference in 2007.

"Talks are ongoing for a race in Russia after President Vladimir Putin approached McQuaid's UCI predecessor at Olympic meetings in 2007."

In 2007 Vladmir Putin was reputed to be the richest man in Europe with a corruptly ill gotten fortune estimated at more than $40 billion.

they bought the FIFA world cup this year he probably wants to hosts the tour de russia in july  not doubt UCI will back it.

a correction re Pat McQuaid is on the IOC committee. For a guy that ignored IOC directives as an athlete it shows what a sham sports federations are when the IOC make a guy like him a member.
