McQuaid Family in trouble

Seems the McQuaid family are not having a good time either since Fat Pat lost the election.

Ann McQuaid has had to issue loads of apologises on twitter to remarks she made after the election

https://twitter.com/AnnHigginson64

also seems threats are being made against the Irish guys who brought down the downfall of Fat Pat.

Cillian Kelly ‏@irishpeloton 22h A veiled threat via private message from a relation of a certain someone. Wonderful.

to be fair, a lot of raw emotion flying around - not defending her actions but at least she had the decency to apologise - know when I lost my job I wrote a lot of angry, emotional emails - difference is I had the good sense not to send them

Well said.
From all their perspective they will think that Pat did a wonderful job and that he was handed a tough hand of cards.

And his brother is an agent, right? How will he do without Patrick
No, his son - Andrew.
I think he will be ok - he is pretty smart and has legal & financial experience.
But Ps brother and others could be in trouble.

Look she has form here.
Last year she went on irishboards.ie and wrote a nasty post on Kimmage (it was the time of the fund and case etc)...and again if it was just her taking Pat's side fair enough, but she was downright dishonest. So I wouldn't be as inclined to cut her slack as some.

Didn't know that - like I say, think the thoughts but be very careful about acting on them.

The fallout from the election is far from finished I think - be interested to see what the Ethics committee report on next.

A few of the McQuaids have gotten in online squabbles on forums, especially at boards.ie.

They and other McQuaid supporters have an attitude that the McQuaids have played a huge role in cycling in Ireland(which they have) and as a result should be above reproach.

It is sad because there is little doubt about the input of the McQuaid's into Irish cycling, it is huge but Pat's action's in his role as president of the UCI have eaten away a lot of the goodwill they would have built up over the years. So it then comes down to a case of good old fashioned parochial politics versus best person for the job scenario. Too often, we the Irish take the parochial approach but when the other approach is taken it usually proves divisive and ends in endless amount's of bitterness and recriminations. I have seen it happen many times and this is another example. The McQuaids and their supporters will carry a burning resentment for a long, long time.

How would you envisage this "burning resentment" manifesting itself?

How many people do you think in Ireland construe the population "The McQuaids and their supporters"?

They wouldn't be the only ones with "burning resentment" from the sport over the last 20 years.

How many riders died from EPO and how many of their families and friends are still affected?

How many potential stars gave up the sport because of cheats?

Think they linger any resentments?

Get real will you.

The "burning resentment" will at this stage only be localised in Ireland. How that manifests itself in a small country where cycling is a minority sport is to be seen but i guess lines will be drawn along those who voted for McQuaid and those who didn't at the EGM. It will I guess not impact on the world stage. But the Irish road races could be interesting for a few years to come.

The McQuaids are no longer a power in the sport. Will riders start dropping away from Andrew McQuaid? Depends if another agent comes along who is close to Cookson and gives them something similar that Andrew McQuaid provided.

No, I don't think so - I think in 400 or 500 years time it will almost be forgotten.

The UCI reports to no one. Why would they publish a laundry list of sporting corruption?

Exactly! That would expose how much of a fraud Cookson and the UCI is, they will NEVER do that
