So now this guy is not going to go after honest people who decide to clear their conscience. This reeks of past UCI omerta through intimidation and an attempt to cover up their failed system where they could not catch cheaters. For decades they have denied the sport was rife with corruption and now teams who are voluntarily trying to shed light on the past would risk being sanctioned. The message was clear, you better keep your mouth shut or you may face sanctions for things that you did 10 years ago. Johan Museeuw bravely came forward and admitted doping was at pandemic levels although only Lance was clean apparently. The about face is a public relations move that comes too late because the UCI has lost all credibility. Now that the genie is out of the bottle McQuaid has had to again adopt different tactics to save face but this is too little too late. His lack of credibility is astounding. the way he battled the USADA shows his arrogance and disregard for the sport, merely seeking to protect his lofty position as cycling czar. If there is a flood of confessions which now may finally occur the UCI heads both current and former should be sued for their salaries over the last 30 years, and made to pay back every cent for their dishonesty, lack of integrity, and corruption which may be criminal in nature. If in fact they have let some athletes knowingly cheat and cover up positive tests at the expense of lesser riders who had their livelihood stolen from them they should be convicted of fraud and maybe a form of extortion as well. They may have literally played god in choosing sacrificial lambs, destroying some lives well letting others succeed. If the UCI has covered up positive tests for some riders it is as rotten to the core as any organized criminal organization and should be treated as such. At the very least the current heads of this organization should be fired immediately and a new structure put in place.
