Men can be idiots

Cycling Bros Doing Stupid ****, Unbound Edition: The Elite Men started first, so they staged at the front, then there was a barrier, and the Elite Women were behind that, waiting to move into the front staging area, after the Elite Men started. Immediately after the Elite Men started, a bunch of douchebag cycling bros who were in the amateur race, pushed past the Elite Women, into the front staging area. They had to be told to remove themselves. They pushed past women who are professionals, women whose names are widely known, women who would drop their asses in the first 10 miles, but these dudes had to show how "Alpha" they are.

There are many men in the cycling community who are oblivious to their toxic behavior. I regularly hear men saying things to women that are just absurd, like the guy who tried to tell my wife that a 125 mile ride was maybe too hard for her. (She'd done 225 the week before)

I'm sure this is the case in any sport where men and women compete together, and it is changing, but still exists much more pervasively than it should. Cycling Bros, do better. The percentage of women who dropped out of Unbound 200 was far less than the percentage of men. Women are just tougher. Cope.

Sounds similar to several things I read recently about the packs of amateur “bros” in the bike leg of triathlons, completely ignoring the TT distance rule and riding as a group.
