And just for full disclosure.
I hate Lance.

Not because of his probable steroid abuse.
I'm not one of those guys who believe that the peleton SHOULD be steroid free.
Professional athletes need to do professional things.
And hell, if Lance wants to compete against Pantani, and Voeckler(sp),
and Ulrich, and Basso, and, umm..ANY Spanish climber, and almost any Italian cyclist....and the whole T-Mobile team...and....
well let's just say that he had no choice but to use steroids.

The reason that I don't like him, is the same reason that I don't like EddyM
because they're both assholes who surround themselves with yes men.
The second that a teammate wants to be his own man, Lance and Eddy would make it their personal mission to destroy said rider.
I don't like Lance because in the peleton he is a little *****.
its ok you are safe here. everything will be fine. don't worry about eddy and lance, you are safe here....

So why the hell should whatever Eddy or Indurain

Depends on what it's about. If they're being asked about his abilities as a rider and how they rate his dominace of GT's over the last few years then yes they have the experience and results to comment.

If they're being asked for a personal opinion on whether they can trust him to be clean then their opinion is no more valid than yours or mine. Just their opinion will reach a larger audience, which can be a dangerous thing when expressing an uninformed opinion.

Why wouldn't Schlecklet trust him? That makes no sense to me, Andy is probably on the dope himself.
Their flirtatious moments of the Tour have clearly shown that they are friends, at least friendly rivals. Why would he watch his 'every' move?

Because CN is THE stenographer for important people in cycling. AC's brother gets to set the record straight, the Chicken, the chef. Why not Merckx? It's like going on Larry King and spewing your propaganda while King sits there trying not to have a bowel movement.

CN should just cut all the bull and give each of these guys with gravity defying opinions a log in to directly post their facts on the front page of the website. They could have a monkey run spellcheck but no more support than that would be needed.

BTW, how does one "hope" to trust somebody?

Probably the same way one "hope" to not use performance enhancing drugs. Either way, I'm with you, it seems pretty lame! Eddy should be able to come up with something better than that.

Then again, could just be another "lost in translation," such as perhaps I 'wish' I could trust him...

Kinda like Thor and his "never 'seen' doping"

If you provide sponsorship to doped teams and it's part of your family fortune... you might want to stay neutral on doping?

All respect, and no offense meant or intended towards an icon of the sport.

He was a hero for me coming up.

Just saying. He was a competitor and cannibal in sport but a potential pushover in commerce?

Is your point that since he sponsored the team before the advent of EPO, that he is necessarily involved and responsible for what happened on the team years after he stopped sponsoring it?
