Funny old race. Dowsett will have his first big chance of a win with the prologue. Sprints will be battled out by the likes of Farrar, Bos, Haedo, Appollonio.

If Farrar doesn't have a good showing in the sprints at the Ster Tour he will lose his spot on the Tour team.

Giro di Toscana is also on the 19th which is a one day race.

well put the details up then. ;)

I didnt think it was worth creating seperate threads for this weeks races as they are all pretty minor compared with suisse

Think there are few riders in that situation in Ster. But if Farrar cant win a stage against pro conti riders then he is unlikely to beat cavendish

Same in Sud. think maybe a couple of sky's riders are fighting for a tour de france spot over the Tourmalet

Fringe races for some riders to stake their claim.

Is gerrans riding any of these races? On Cycling central they spoke to Shane Sutton who said Simon is on a list of 12 possibly going to the tour although his spot is definetly not guaranteed.

RE Toscana, I will post it up in a minute.

Gerrans at the moment not down to do either unless he is drafted in last minute

Woohoo - Route du Sud! I don't think I've ever seen live footage from that race, but I've always liked the looks of it. It seems like a great and tough little appetizer for Le Tour and a perfect opportunity for the (primarily) French climbers to stretch their legs.

I assume Alexandre Geniez is leading the Skil-Shimano team. He was 2nd here last year, only slightly beaten by David Moncoutie in the mountain time trial, and if he's got the form of Tour de Luxembourg and Critérium International, he should be in the mix. Here's hoping.

The return of Jonny Bellis at Ster. Nice to see that. I hope he can do OK. A very uneventfull race finishing in the peleton will be a massive bonus for him.

I wish him luck.

Great chance for Alex Dowsett in the prologue. He's flying at the minute if the London Nocturne is anything to go by!!

Can't see Gilbert lose the Ster ZLM Tour. Stage 4 starts in Verviers, his birth place. Hills like la Redoute are included. I'm also hoping he'll win the prologue.

I think Farrar is their main Green Jersey hope. However unless if Cav arrives on the form of his life i reckon Hushovd could go for the Green jersey on the harder stages. To combat that HTC need to send Goss up the road. I would go Dowsett for the prolouge with his main competition to be ( Winden, Gretsch, Rasmussen, Lancaster, Kluge, Cornu and anyone else who i have not listed who is an ok ITT'er

Gilbert for the overall unless if he lets Hansen defend his title

Route Du Su should have more PT teams in it, since it is hard. Am liking the chances of Rui Costa, Lovkvist, Engoulvent, any from FDJ, Charteau, Gadret, Docker??? and maybe Zingle

I personally think that Farrar won't make the tour team. He doesn't look physically or emotionally with it at the moment ad I think he might need some more time away.

He'll definetly need to show something to warrant selection as Garmin have a lot of guys to choose from in the tour who all deserve a spot.

I think Alexandre Geniez will not participate Route du Sud, i heard his next race will be Tour of Austria
Someone to confirmate that ?
