If you had read the reasoning of your ban you would have realized that this was but one of the many reasons and that that post was the straw that broke the camels back. If you cannot see this and do not understand it and do not amend your general behaviour here, there is a good chance that you will soon get another vacation

I see so it is ok to break the rules until you reach a arbitrary limit with a mod with a short fuse. Can you please direct me to the part of the rules where it says you can break rules up to a certain point?

I read my ban message. I got a point whatever that is for berating bassons while other forum member called me names. I made you mad because I say he should write a book in english and you accuse me of bashing france though the USA is a punchline in here. I get warned because I advise somebody in the off topic forum to get a divorce if their wife only wants moneey and not his happiness. I guess after all that saying people are gullible because of looking at how they vote for the same crooks over and over again is the straw that broke the camels back. Whatever.

Welcome back, Skandar !

Of course you are 100 % right with your observations.
And you are clearly not alone, but only one of a few that have the balls to speak up.

As long as nothing really changes ( as you mentioned, I have some hope now too, because there were some changes. but we'll have to see and wait), you only have 2 choices:

1. Stay out of the clinic
2. Hate Lance, be a perfect fulltime disgusting hater - and you can do and write whatever you want. You can even lie, tell bull**** and insult other people then without any banning consequences. You might even get some praises by certain responsibles then.

Have a nice day !

This might be some good advice, were it not that most of his indiscretions were also outside of the clinic. (and no, I won't offer any serious response to what you are writing)

And to Skandar:

In most situations people are not immediately suspended from the forum, it is a gradually proces. Not every situation that goes against the forum rules is reacted to with a banning, quite the opposite.

I read my ban message. I got a point whatever that is for berating bassons while other forum member called me names. I made you mad because I say he should write a book in english and you accuse me of bashing france though the USA is a punchline in here. Firstly the advice about the divorce was not the problem in itself, it was what you wrote after that and you know full well it is, don't play ignorant.

Te post in the Bassons thread was clearly posted to just troll the thread and again, you know full well to be the case.

The comment about his book really wasn't just that and again you know this.

If you can't figure all this out, you really are beyond help and probably won't last long until your next suspension.

So, remember, be civil, do not troll and don't even try to make xenophobic comments

I also had inquired as to what had happened for you to get a suspension. I do not think the politics bit was the whole problem like I tried to tell you before this post,,,, it was a cumulative issue. Your posting style had insulted a few people and they must have reported your posts. Just try to be more understanding and post in a more civil fashion. Just my 2 cents.

Stay out of this Glenn. You keep that up and I will take back that used Lance bicycle seat I gave you that I won as a doorprize at the last livestrong chili cookoff and apple bobbing fiesta in Austin.

Barrus,

I try to go back and read the posts but they are deleted. I remember the advice I give roland now and that is exactly what I have done with my life. It offends me that I get in trouble for advising in a manner that has helped me.

As for bassons, I tried to read his book but it is in french. You go to just about every country in the world and you can get by if you know english. Pointing out that his book should be in English should not be punishable unless you want to slam the world. Besides that doesn't excuse all the name calling I got which is against the rules. That grannyville guy even called me names in fench and I know because I know a french girl who translated it.

The same people like brodeal and python call people names and ignorant all the time and get away with it. Cobblestoned is right on. My 'cumulative effect' is stating my opinion and life experiences. You call it troll because you don't agree. One man troll is another mans buddy. I am leaving now because this is making me angry.

This can't be serious.
Just repeat it 10 more times, and like always, it will become true.

This was a perfect advice and you know it.
Because the biggest and most trouble always happens when someone responses or questions to some these hypocrit haters in the clinic.
Then they all show up and it's only a question of time till they start mass-provocating and insulting.
The real and biggest problem is somewhere else.
Fights will always happen. Especially if there is a political-thread, which is a guarantee for trouble, or other "hot" topics. People earn and sometimes need bans. Me and others included.

The real problem and issue is the balanced handling, moderating, banning and abuse of "power".
Which is even worse than just some fights or hating Lance excessively.

You know best. Certain group is nearly save here, because you are part of that group.
Not to appear too focused on you, dear Mr.Barrus, I will just add Mr.Alpe d'Huez, who is even praising some haters regulary. But I consider him relatively harmless and not often involved. At least this is some honest entertainment. Of course he is unbalanced, too.

To give you the short version, Mr. Barrus, you have an abo on beeing involved, beeing balanced and having a manipulating impact on outcome of discussions, while holding hands with some special users who can do whatever they want 24/7 without beeing really banned or even beeing considered as regular troublestarter.
Well, that alibi-ban for 2 of your holy mates, that were in high-level fighting for nearly a whole night, was quiet amusing too.
Did they even notice that they were banned, lol ?
Others get/got minimum 1-6 month or lifetime for same issue, lol.

Mr. Barrus, it would be of course exaggerating if I would say that I actually like you and most of your opinions...., but again, this is not my and other peoples real problem.

The problem is just that you are (still) a mod. You are not a good mod/admin.
You are balanced and that mod-thing has gone to your head. You are no more able to differ between user-barrus and big powerful mod-barrus, and it's only getting worse.

Even simple on-topic discussions about normal topics, outside of this area here, have a penetrant taste of "Nod or be banned. I am great barrus" now.
Think about it and don't handle me like I was just an idiot.
Your signature might be funny and suit you well. But you are out of control and it's only getting worser, dude.

I think I asked that few weeks ago without getting an answer, so , who is responsible for you ?

This is clear, but this is not the issue.

Everyone should do that, and if he does not, then you should be handled like everyone else.
No preferential treatment and no discrimination too. People who can handle that should be mods.

I understand all of your points. I think we just disagree on what makes a good forum. I prefer chaos.

No, I don't.

...this is just here to create a space...

Which leads me back to an idea I proposed waaaay earlier in this thread. Why not create a subforum called the Chaos forum where anything goes? There would be no moderation except for spam. There is a Chaos thread which is cool, but if there were a subforum any thread that is getting out of control could instead of being erased or closed be sent in there with the express purpose of letting it continue or die. Also, if people choose to participate in such the Chaos subforum it would be with the understanding that they can't whinge about what goes on there. (Of course, they could whinge about the subforum within the subforum:D)

I am guessing, but the mods police themselves. From comments they have made in this thread and elsewhere, they discuss among themselves before banning someone. I imagine that if a mod was over-reacting, the other mods would privately let him or her know before action was taken.

Is this reasoning correct? Does it apply to warnings, as well?

keep up the good job, barrus !

let me assure you, you have a lot more support than many are willing to show publicly.

you and the other mods know exactly who and why are not happy and why they, their sock puppets and their buds appear around in expected bunches every time one of them comes back after a ban.

respect and peace to all.

some appear on fake white horses , but that's another matter.

peace.

You just returned from a ban, are you still using your sock puppets? I did notice an increase in posters being referred to as ignorant and barely legible poorly punctuated posts upon your return. Interesting for sure...

Knock-off all the sock puppet talk. If someone is a sock puppet, we'll get to the bottom of it.

gregod said:

We do our best to keep communication high between each other, interacting probably on an hourly basis. If that's what you are wondering.

I think that is beyond the scope of this website, or what we're trying to do here.

You are entirely correct. We discuss actions with each other frequently. So frequently in fact there is an entire subforum that only moderators can see and in it we have more than 150 threads about our actions on the main forum.

There have been cases where we have over-ruled each other but generaly we have found that where one moderator has acted, the rest of us would have done much the same thing.

It is a true mistake to assume that just because someone - such as Barrus - has acted on their own with no support from the other moderators (which given how many times we point this out, makes it a pretty sad mistake too).

Another poster had asked who monitors the moderators. I suggested that the mods effectively police themselves with behind-the-scenes discussions.

Beyond the scope of this website? There already is a general forum, how far beyond the scope of this website would what a Chaos subforum be? Actually, the Chaos subforum would I hope be limited to cycling; like a Clinic on steroids.:D

As for the underlined part; could you be more specific? My guess is that the forum serves two purposes: 1) to attract users to the site and 2) foster discussion about issues related to cycling.

The second of these being subordinate to the first. However, I and perhaps others, while overall like the forum find it too limiting at times. Therefore, I do not spend as much time in the forum and at this site as I otherwise would and that limits the chance that I will see an attractive ad on the right hand side of my screen that I would click through to.

In a way, the proposal to have a Chaos forum would make the job of the moderators easier. You could banish threads there without killing them. You could banish offenders there. You could ignore what goes on there completely.

I know that this isn't going to happen, but i can dream can't i?:D

It has been discussed as one of many options but it is felt that having an area that is free like that will make it harder for us to moderate the rest of the forum rather than easier. To explain in short - it is noted that whatever tone is set in a sub forum will generally bubble up into the rest of the forum. Arguments started there will permeate the entire environment. We see this through some attitudes formed in the Clinic that spill out elsewhere.

I guess I am saying is that perhaps this could eventually be put in place but at the moment it is counterproductive to our efforts to set an overall tone of posting that any new member can recognise and begin to follow.

I am glad to know that it has been discussed.

As for why it was nixed, the fact that the tone of such a forum might permeate into the rest of the forum makes sense. Unintended consequences and all that. I can see that it could go either way. My hope is that it would clean up the main forum, but you never know until you try.
