What happens if someone uses their real name for their username. Would you get banned for referring to their username then?

My name is Tom, if anybody calls me this I'd like them banned.

How will i call you? i cant call you pete and now that you are going to report if i call you fleur. I hope i can still call jojo.

Aw, sheesh, guys, I know you expect me to be everything to everybody, and you're just showing your mod love, but don't ya think you're asking a bit much here? Don't ya think it might be easier if ya cued ME in that it wasn't a personal name? Nothing in what was said gave me a single clue. Pete could be a female. I know plenty of female Sams. And a boy named Sue. Not to mention Pete could be a guy who doesn't mind also going by the nick LeFleur - like maybe Pete LePew? Wait a sec, my spelling mistake, that was Pepe.

Go ahead, slam on! Remember, I have to call it the way I see it. Oh - and if it is: a) revealed by the user, or b) common knowledge, it is generally ok. For instance, we know that JV comes around, doesn't hurt anything to say Johnny, except I don't think he likes that nick, or back in the day it was Jobst and Sheldon - both posted under their reals. And they had philosophical issues with nicks, and users of nicks. I think John Allen also used his real. If a lesser known user, like DBL Pedro, or Cyivel? Were to let slip his real in a single post - and somebody else used it in a possibly hostile manner? As a mod I would take that very badly.

Just like hitch called L'Arriviste Larry - which seemed to me a shorthand nick for L'Arriviste - and other posters said the same. If somebody had legitimately said - "oh deary me, that is his real name!"? Those posts would have disappeared. Note I said legitimately, because I KNOW one or more of you jokers is now gonna think of making a post saying "oh deary me, larry is his real name!" Tell me I'm wrong, and that you aren't that predictable!

Hiero2 I think you are confused. Let me explain it. LaFleur is someone we don't know. A CN forum member, but we don't know her (I guess) real name. My real name is Fleur, french for flower, and flower is flor in spanish. Florecita would be "little flower, small flower". I guess there is some confusion when in a debate about LaFleur and LaFlorecita people refer to me as "Fleur".

Anyway Pete is my nickname, given to me by BYOP88, who used to refer to me as "Peter la Fleur", an actor I believe, "Pete" in short. So LaFleur isn't Pete, I am Pete

iirc carol comes from when some ozzie psudo journalist did a list of 50 greatest sportsmen of 2011 and Cadel Evans was only 11th and Philipe Gilbert was not on the list.

ACF found this very upsetting (ironically more Gilbert because Gilbert was about to join BMC) so posted the list on here and announced he was going to go on some chat the website advertised at 11am Ozzie time to heckle the "journo" for not making Evans and GIlbert 1-2.

I went on the chat he linked and saw 50 mma fans heckling the journo for not putting some ufc fighters on the list, and 1 guy moaning about Gilbert not being on the list

The journo dismissed every suggestion as "yes i agree he is also good" whether he recognized the name or not, so the one guy got ****ed and continued at which point the journo told him to shut up.

Then that guy disappeard and a minute later a new user called Carol took up the fight for the honour of Gilbert and Evans and continued attacking the journo for not having phil on the list.

So afterwards I told ACF on here in some thread - your name is Carol isnt it, and he pmd me saying that Carol was just a name he used cos he didnt want to use his own name. Then on vlr when they were asking peoples names i joked that ACF was carol and he denied furiously so as a joke others started calling him carol.

Well, ok then! We got that sorted! La Florecita (and I knew the literal translations, but thank you, n e vay)=Pete, and LaFleur is somebody else.

I agree. It’s not advertising as defined by the TOC but more subtle. And talking repeatedly about another forum while bashing this one is silly. I do not care for the preaching. This forum has enough problems without that going on.
