David Millar

One year ago:

"He's reached the end of the road and I just find it disgusting," said Millar from his home training base in Girona, Spain. "He's a liar and a cheat and he has nothing left in cycling so he just wants to burn the house down."

Today:

“I think 2008 was much harder because a lot of guys were on CERA,” Millar said after Tuesday’s time trial

Guess what genius? The house really does need burning down. It's probably time to wake and smell and haggis.

Why does anyone pay attention to David Millar? The guy carries the party line and gets into a hissy fit when his blood values were ranked suspicious. The guy is a complete jagoff and throws everyone who get busted under the bus. He keeps on spouting this clean cycling bull**** while knowing damn well what is going on.

Well, judging by your quote it seems he's not the moron of the day, but of yesterday since the recent quote is more enlightened than the first... :)

Bloke's always struck me as being a bit of a throbber, to be honest. Should have been kicked out the sport for good, then he couldn't have spun the 'redemption' story that's looking a bit tatty these days.

And to think I gave him my full support by the roadside the year he climbed the Alps with blood the consistency of scotch broth...

So, yeah - he's buttered on both sides, him.

Sorry, the first quote was from Millar when the Landis scandal broke (it was referring to Landis). Basically, he was really upset because he threw White under the bus. That's what in particular drew his ire.

To another poster's comment, I'd say that no, he's still a moron today. He still doesn't get it. Half-baked confessions like his are really a big part of the problem, and he doesn't seem to get that, still. On one hand he's spouting the rhetoric of "all we've done for cycling", then on the other hand he admits to the reality that the top Giro guys were booting with CERA just a couple of years ago.

I believe he's riding clean now. His results certainly seem to demonstrate that's the case. But there's a big disconnect between reality and his acceptance of the problem. That's why he's still a moron today, IMO.

So, you call another a "moron" - does that imply that you can't be one??
The question always begs to be asked when the name-calling and labeling starts...

Not at all.

Well, you can ask the question, but I stand by my argument. Calling someone names may beg the question that I, too, am a moron; it doesn't however make me a moron..

Millar seems incapable of understanding that he's perpetuating the exact problem about which he's now complaining. That makes him a moron in my book.

As far as "name calling", his comments regarding Landis were far beyond that, in my opinion. And really, I'm no great defender of Floyd (though I appreciate that he's finally come clean). Millar acted like a 6 year old in his response to Landis' revelations.

If you feel differently, I'm always up for hearing legitimate alternative viewpoints.

Millar would know, it was not just 2008 Giro. It was the Tour also, with CSC and Columbia-Highroad. Remember Kim Kirchen mister brain aneurism. And KAA, climbing like he was some red terror group from the 70's.

Ask Cadric Vasseur about the positives ala Gunderson from those two teams. It was too easy for Ricco and Schumacher to cop it in the neck like escaped goats.

He doesn't strike me as being the sharpest tool in the shed. I'm not talking Ricco or Sinkewitz level of density, just not a very deep thinker, who would rather talk first anyway sometimes, and sometimes moronic things come out.

Precisely (well approximately at least :D)!

I like your style, mark...'a bit of a throbber..' ROTFL

Millar's a sanctimonious prigg, always has been. Just look at the guy's face.

Have never been a big fan of Millar and found him a bit of a sanctimonious little .....

However, he is partly responsible for one of my all time comedy cycling moments when he won that sword in Toledo, talk about a massive tool!

I can't believe the way people on here are smearing Millar. A moron? He's one of the most articulate and intelligent, intellectual even, British sportsmen I can think of.

Trouble is, it's easy to appear hypocritical when you're living a lie.

My daddy's a pilot!

That is the same expression my male goat makes just before he drinks the urine and mounts the female goat.

Got ask if people would say this face to face to someone

or having fake name give some people a little courage.

I hope an admin cleans this thread out. People should think a little.

i'm not particularly fond of Millar and many times wish he'd just keep his mouth shut, but...

he handled himself in exemplary fashion the day Wouter Weylandt died and the stage thereafter, making me grateful it was he in pink.

actions speak louder than words.

i'll give him a pass on this one.

poor guy never got to celebrate what may be his last leader's jersey.
