MTB UK to Australia (dirt)

Anyone taken their MTB into Australia? Specifically from the UK?

I know customs/quarantine are paranoid about dirt on shoes and hiking boots, so I'm guessing that it'll be the same gig regarding the MTB.

Anyone had any experience with this and what's involved? (other than a sh*tload of cleaning)

I've taken mine plenty of times, it's no problem, just clean it first. At customs, they do ask you to open the box and inspect it. I usually leave the tires behind and just get some new ones when I arrive.

Bring along a small mammal or a toad. Customs will be so worried about it that a little dirt on your bike will seem inconsequential.

funny you should mention that, I normally declare some food and after that they don't pay much attention...

this is freighting though, so it's dockside customs/quarantine
