National Football League

Page 464 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Chargers just announced that they will officially be switching to the National Flag Football league. The league is made up of teams consisting of retired grade school music and art teachers, and temporary disabled members of the clergy, that will play with casts, braces and crutches. The Chargers are lobbying for a mercy rule..if they are down by 50+ at halftime..both teams will go to the nearest American Girl doll store until time expires..

For a team that wasn't supposed to win, WFT and Jaguars starting off good. Buccaneers shot themselves in the foot repeatedly and was undisciplined. I thought Brady was good besides the pick 6 that he threw behind the receiver allowing an eaay pick. They can only get better as the season progresses. I didn't see any wet noodle arm for Brady, his deep passes were on. The biggest things were the constant penalties, Evans giving up on the interception and stopping his route, the corner giving up on his coverage for Brees to Cooks, and that muffed kickoff. A 10 point swing from special teams and 7 from the interception. Officiating was passable but the Saints fumbled the ball.
On the Saints side their defense was good and offense performed when they needed too. Definitely tried running up the score so we'll see what happens in the rematch. The game should be good.

I'll echo my own post from Thursday: the play is better than expected.

I only watched two full games:
SEA vs. ATL
-WOOHOO SEA!
-Adams is a better pickup than I expected!
-Wilson!
-It feels 'right' for Gurley to be playing in GA again.

LAR vs. DAL
-I don't want to get to crunch time with either of these QB's.
--Goff isn't worth his money, and Dak isn't worth what he wants, that being said, they are better than many.
-Feed me more!
-Both teams have potential to be solid, but the Rams have a tougher path.

Other things that stick out for me from watching highlights:
Lamar
Kyler--'nough said for these three
Cam
Rodgers looked younger.
I feel like I need to add Josh Allen Mitch Trubisky to this list.
Haskins had a higher rating than Wentz.
I'm sure that I'm missing some really good other play, especially D, but I'm going from highlights and they like O.

They had help on that Very Special teams kick off to Tampa. I'm still chuckling over that one.

Yes but they should have had a fumble recovery off that drive. But that blunder is as bad or even worse than the GB botch in NFCCG against Seattle. But after that towards the end calling a timeout with the game in hand to go for it on fourth and goal is what I mean. Maybe in response to the choice to go for two by TB. They need to clean up the penalties while offense needs time to get in sync. Wonder how worse it could have been with an actual crowd.

That's how I feel with cycling sometimes.
Even when the games are earlier, I struggle to watch much, and while I catch up on highlights and analysis/opinion on Youtube, I'm not a fan of the shouty "in your face" type broadcasting a lot of sports seem to go with in the US. This thread is much more calm and considered and personal biases seem to be left aside for most.

And I am suprised not a lot of commentators are mentioning it but my mom and I thought Brady got his leg broken or tore something after a brutal sack during the second quarter. His leg looked like it bent like Smith's but had the benefit of being in the air vs the ground.

Pretty hard fought contest though I think Tennessee was trying to give the game away: Gostkowski 3 missed FGs and an extra-point - though he made the one that counted most.

Bronco offense stagnant in the 2nd half. Lock decent but nothing spectacular. If Lock had more than 17 seconds left to work with after the FG, he might have had a decent shot of getting into FG range (they had 3 TOs left!). Gordon looked pretty good on his debut - 78 yds on some solid runs. Jeudy not bad but a couple of drops he should have had. Definitely missing Sutton. Hamler, the Broncos 2nd deep threat & return specialist, also didn't play.

On D couldn't stop Henry (imagine that). Crazy stat with Henry - when he rushes for 100+ yds, the team is 14-0. As goes Henry...so goes the Titans.

Eerie seeing that completely empty stadium - it would have been a madhouse on MNF!

Yes Gordon looked good. Henry picking up where he left off in the playoffs. Jeudy is elusive, very fast, didn't see the drops. That new Rams stadium is impressive but just as empty as the others...............

This Sunday has been a disaster in terms of injury so far. This season is likely to be the survival of the fittest by this rate.
49ers already had their top 3 offensive weapons out then Kittle goes out now four more injuries today including Jimmy G and Mostert ! Still it was a good time to be playing the Jets ! Texans haven't had a good start to the season. The Cowboys get out of jail on the final play, Falcons players not happy, not surprised, they had a good lead, and the Chargers gave Kansas a game. Brady gets his first win as a Bucc. Titans also won a tight one, sounds like Minshew had a nice game.

Sounds like Bosa has torn his ACL same with Saquon Barkley. Injuries piling up for the 49ers. Jimmy G has a high ankle sprain and will miss next week. Kittle in doubt for next week as well. Mostert sounds like a knee sprain.
