Really nice game for Maye, and the Patriots. I know they haven't had the toughest schedule, but they look good, with a bright future. They spent smart in FA, and still have a lot of money for next season. They hired the very best HC for that team, and arguably the best OC (who should never be a HC again). 14-3 season? HFA would be wild.

Colin likes to stir things up. Having seen some SF games, I still think Purdy does better in tougher situations. But there's no question Jones has filled in very well, and really resurrected his career. He should get a legitimate shot at starting somewhere next season. Hey, maybe Rex will come back to the Jets, and he can sign him?!

Fields absolutely is a problem in NY, but they have been bad for a long, long time. The one constant in NY? Long before Fields got there? Woody. And he's not considered a hand's off owner. He's a "smartest guy in the room" type of owner.

49ers signed Jones for two seasons, don't think they can afford to trade him at the moment. Sounds like Purdy will play this week toe injury and all. Many think it's a mistake based on Purdy's practices although Shanahan thinks differently. If he stinks it up this week, I think he's off to IR and Jones goes again. Unlike Burrow it seems like Purdy doesn't need surgery. Burrow needed a ligament repaired

Well, the trade window has closed for the season. But, and in this regard John Lynch may be smarter than given credit for, SF signed Jones to a two-year deal, without an out for Mac after this season. Also, he'll get paid $4m next season, but if SF cuts him (or another team does a trade/cut, unlikely but possible), the dead cap is only a little over $2m, making him really easy to deal next off-season, if they want. Or they can just hold onto him as insurance at a reasonable cost.

This was really damn smart because they saw: Jones has talent, but went through a really bad coaching carousel his entire career so far. So he was always between decent and bad, depending on the week. He best play was for a smart OC who works with QBs in Josh McDaniels, and he had a few moments his year in Jax, but that whole org was a mess. "But in a stable system like ours, where I, QB whisperer Kyle Shananhan actually work with my QBs and coach to their strength, unlike other idiot coaches out there..." they grabbed him at a very reasonable cost, and can hold him for two seasons. They saw what worked with Darnold, but lost Sam after 1 season (as did Minnesota). So Lynch got the "damaged" Jones to sign a 2-year deal.

Indeed, nice game for Maye. This was the first time I watched him live. He threw the ball well finishing with an impressive 107 passer rating. He looked poised & confident running the offense - especially since he's still a youngster at 23 & this is only his 2nd year of starting. He sees the field well. And you could see his athleticism & mobility at work as he effectively moved away from pressure avoiding potential sacks & getting the ball to an open receiver. And 1st rounder LT Will Campbell was outstanding. Only one holding penalty & allowed only one sack matched up primarily against McDonald most of the game. This was a great selection by Vrabel - he looks like the real deal: big, strong, athletic, tough, smart.

And not to take away anything from Maye, but his receivers were wide open all night...and I mean wide open. I don't know if the Jets' secondary was sleeping on the job or what, but all Maye had to do was get the ball on target (that's why he didn't have to run much - only 2 yds rushing). And he's throwing to Diggs & Henry - two of the best at their positions.

And Fields got NO help from his receivers. I thought I was watching practice squad receivers out there. Lol. Mitchell dropped THREE nice passes right into his freaken hands! One was a nicely thrown deep ball that might of scored if he didn't drop it. I can see why the Colts dumped this guy & now he's the Jets' problem. WTH? Lol. And Ruckard on 4th down in the red zone wide open dropped a pass right into his hands that would have been a 1st down keeping the drive alive. Who knows...if these catches were made it might have been a different & much closer game.

Herbstreit summed up his thoughts on Fields stating that he has elite talent but needs to play in a system that will capitalize on his strengths. He also needs weapons that Herbstreit says he's lacking with the Jets (no kidding after what I saw with those receivers. Lol). So, maybe...with the right system & some good weapons, Fields could become a franchise QB.

I wouldn't want to be in Purdy's shoes this Sunday. He's literally got to play flawlessly & win knowing Jones is standing by ready to go in and relieve him if Shanahan sees fit. This has to be one of the most uneasy feelings for a starting QB coming back from injury when the backup has played so well in your absence.

Funny! What about Jon Gruden as coach of the Giants? Chucky seems to want the gig! Slightly more likely than Rex Ryan as HC of the Jets I suppose.

Both teams will have to rely on backups - Pacheco is out as well. This is particularly bad for the Broncos as Dobbins is the 5th leading rusher in the league & has been getting most of the carries. RJ Harvey, their 2nd rd pick, has been ineffective running the ball averaging only about 5 carries a game. He needs to step it up & have a big game to justify his 2nd rd status.

Hopefully for his sake but keep in mind he wasn't playing that well before he even got hurt. In the two games he started before the injury he was 1-1 with 4 TD passes to 4 picks & a passer rating of only 85 (vs his career average of 103). So, it wasn't like he started off the season on fire or anything.

On Jones, I don't quite understand why they signed him to a 2 yr deal when he's as good as gone next year? (unless some crazy thing occurs where he's allowed to compete for the starting job next year & beats out Purdy). Jones has resurrected his career with his outstanding performance in his 8 starts. And with his confidence back & being a high 1st rd pick, he wants to start somewhere next year & not hold a clipboard for Purdy. Lol.

It’s what one side of the coin says, other side say Chiefs by 3 scores :O , but I like the other outcome more


And no I don’t bet, you have to spend money to make money but that wage money goes to the family. The biggest regret I think I have is when the Chiefs odds went up crazy high for the second Niners win I think it was when my wife wanted to put $150 on them winning the Super Bowl. My craziest prediction was Seahawks getting a safety against the Broncos in the Super Bowl but I said it’d be a low scoring 2-0 kind of game, not the complete beatdown Seahawks served on them.

Purdy never should have played in the Jags game. He did throw 2 picks against SEA in week 1, but otherwise played well against a very tough D, and they won. But the rest of the season will be telling.

I've been more wrong than right lately in my predictions, but I'm somewhat confident in two of the big games tomorrow. That KC will beat Denver, and the Rams will beat the Seahawks.

LAC@JAX - I think the Chargers are a better team, but I think the Jags will be motivated after last week's loss.

DET@PHI - For the Lions to win, the have to be ahead in the 3rd quarter or so. If the game becomes a grinding battle, and they are behind, I don't see them coming back late.
