Penix is a question mark to take a leap next year because of his health. Another torn ACL to recover from. I'll also believe JJ's leap when I actually see it. I think next season Chicago, Jacksonville (and maybe Houston if someone can better coach CJ) should be quite good next year. Washington too maybe, if Jayden can heal and stay healthy.
The problem with the Chargers may ultimately be...Herbert. They've tried everything now around him. Receivers, coaches, OL, more. Now 0-3 in the playoffs.
I think what McDaniel is really doing is going to a team likely to make the playoffs next year in the Chargers, so when 2027 rolls around and another 5 head coaches get fired, he'll have a better choice where to go (plus next year we'll see Sayin, Arch, Moore, Sellers and others all declare).

Well, it would be Herbert in the playoffs - not the regular season, right? (unless you think he's such a bust that'll eventually he'll end up as a backup in some team's QB room. Lol). Herbert is 52-43 having winning seasons in 4 out of his 6 yrs. I think of the lousy teams like the Jets, Raiders, Giants, etc, that would give anything to have a QB that wins enough games during the season to make the playoffs.
So, I guess the million dollar question for McDaniel is how are you going to fix Herbert's playoff woes? It's not like he's losing close ones, but he's getting hammered in the postseason.

I just think he's overpraised, and overpaid. The media just loves the guy. So much praised heaped on Herbert. All the talent he has, we hear about. Then they throw a bunch of stats up, none of which mean anything when he can't win big games. Then comes all the excuses. And maybe that's what bugs me the most, the "apologists" for the guy, who act like he's an MVP, always let down by someone else, coaches, other players, bad luck, you name it. A machine of excuses. Like I posted before, he has potential, and he always will. That's how he'll be remembered I'm starting to think. He'll retire, and people will look back on him talking about all the potential he had.
The problem of "other teams being happy with him" is that little game really needs to be played out. How about we play it this way: Imagine how happy the Raiders would be if all these years they had Patrick Mahomes. Or imagine how well the Chargers would have done with Mahomes while we're at it.

I think Stafford is going to win MVP, even though as I look at who accomplished the most with what they have, I'd vote for Maye.
Assuming Stafford wins MVP, Maye will get the consolation of offensive player of the year.
This brings up another point. I think the NFL needs its own version of the Cy Young for quarterbacks. Call it the Otto Graham Award. I mean, 85% of the time a QB wins MVP...

Artic blast hitting Denver this weekend with highs in the teens & lows in the single digits (I'll be hibernation mode. Lol). Game will be bitter cold with the wind chills but dry nonetheless - so conditions shouldn't be a factor like they were in Foxborough last weekend.

The last time the Broncos played in the AFCCG was 10 yrs ago almost to the day against none other than the Patriots. That was Brady/Belickik vs Manning/Kubiak with the Broncos winning 20-18. And the Broncos went on to win SB 50 with Von Miller MVP.

What stinks is how often they forget what MVP stands for and doesn’t correlate to how the player performs in the team as a whole. I’d pick Maye over Stafford and think he absolutely deserves it.

Want to hear something funny, Big Ben said Rodgers should stay and Mike McCarthy should come be the head coach. I don’t know where Ben was to not know about the beef the two had for each other or that Rodgers would change the plays and play poorly to get McCarthy fired.
Don't ask Saleh about Rodgers either...........it would be negligent of the Steelers to go with Rodgers again. They were lucky to make the playoffs and most people picked them to go out early as they did and looked second rate doing it. They need a shake up on the offense across the board. They have a good RB but the rest doesn't look close to being good enough. Young offensive minded coach maybe what they need right now and that goes for the QB as well, instead of sticking with 40 plus veterans who get exposed in the playoffs and are way past their best days.

Pouring rain all night, did what I typically do watch a movie. Clicked on Elway and it was excellent start to finish. As you watched his career highlights from a young kid, college player and multiple Super Bowl winner it was excellent to see and hear voices from NFL past..a couple of shots of John Madden lightning up a cigarette. The Reeves- Snanahan relationship to John Elway's career was interesting. The way the Elway family dynamics played out including up current day were really done in great taste and sensitivity.. Hard to believe that they covered so many ultra personal things like divorce and the death of John's twin sister was outstanding.

I'm not going to get on a soap box right now, but I've posted before about my disdain for gambling, especially online and sports gambling, and why. Well, this is juts another example:
If someone wants to start a conspiracy theory, or get people worked up, and toss in a gambling angle, one needs to write an article now saying how the NFL will make sure the Rams and Patriots play in the Super Bowl, and create a list of reasons why.
