Here is why, I may be able to glue it but the blood stains are hard to get out

It is for racing

I sweat, a lot, so cooling is important

Replaceable pads are a bonus

Must be available in Australia with the AS sticker
(For those overseas, our Race officials are Nazi's and they do actually check, of course this didn't apply for the world champs, so everyone should have been excluded)

Suggestions please?

Glad it did it's job (or you wouldn't be writing this).

I think you need to try on helmets to find that one fits. They all fit so differently.

Thats not too bad, a little super glue, and some duck tape and it will be good as new.

I have no idea if it's available in Austraila or if it has a AS sticker but I've had 2 Giro Ionos helmets in the past and they work great, removable pads, lots of airflow, the new roc lock system, kinda heavy but I never notice the weight when I'm riding.

A couple of friends have Specialized S-works helmets and rate them highly for comfort and ventilation. They always seem to be cooler and less sweaty than I am, but that probably has more to do with fitness...:)

SWorks... I am not a big show pony but they are a pretty ugly...

Anyone with feedback on the Catlike, again a challenging look but they have some big vents

I'm partial to Bell myself. I had a Sweep which I really liked (it saved my head last spring) and I replaced it with a Volt. Both helmets fit me really well and seem well ventilated.

I can second the Bell rec. I have a Sweep as well. It replaced a Bell X-Ray when it got stolen. If/when it comes time, my next helmet will either be another Sweep or a Volt.

Bells fit my head a lot better than Giros do.

I get what you're saying about looks; the S-works reminds me of a *** boy-racer after-market body-kit stuck on a honda, where the catlike is a cartoon cheese grater.

As for performance, one of the guys I mentioned with the S-works used to have the top-end Catlike (09 model-year?)...on our last ride he was blathering on about how amazingly cool the new S-works is on his head in comparison...

Personally I couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on a helmet, I still mainly use an old Bell x-ray which I got on clearance. The Limar 959 which I bought to replace it (also on clearance) is hot and heavy and is relegated to commuting duty.

Glad to hear that the lid did its job.
I find helmets fits to vary. Giro, Bell and Linmar don't fit me well. Rudy Project, LAS and Lazer work well for me. Others find the opposite, so your mileage may vary.

The Rudy Project Sterling is the best helmet I've ever had, very comfortable, well padded and vented. The pads are removable and it comes with two sets, one minimalist and the other with a bug net.

Hadn't thought of Rudy so I will seek one out to try, thankyou

Try the Limar 777. This is only 200g and only 25g heavier than there top tier Ultralight. Have seen this helment for with a ticket price for AUD$125.00 here in Sydney. I would have thought you could get at a minimum 10% off that price with some kind words like "I'll go else where if you don't discount it".

Did you like the helmet that saved your noggin? I have never done this but know someone who did... write the maker of the helmet and tell them how thankful you are it saved your life etc etc, and send the helmet with the letter. You might just get a new replacement for free.
... actually happened to a friend.

and glad the helmet worked for you

Good idea but from what I can gather Selev no longer distribute into Australia, so the AS sticker is an issue, but I did like it and would have another

Slumdog, Like the look of that Cratoni, nice big vents as well. THe sell in to Au as there is a shop listed on Bikeexcange in Nowra with them, need to seach one local thanks for the lead

Have you looked at the Garneau Quartz?
http://www.louisgarneau.com/in-en/product/305547/1405950/Helmets/QUARTZ_HELMET

I picked one up after trying it at the Garneau tent at the Quebec GP last year. I had been a bit suss on them - there's still a part of me that remembers the very early days of Garneau - but I am way impressed with it! And one of the best things is that it is ridiculously cheap for what it is - I paid C$100, but I see that they're sold in your neck of the woods for about A$140.

I imagine that it'd meet all of the AS and race standards - they're still standard issue for the boys at Europcar ...

I overheat heaps as well, so am always looking for good venting. And with the humidity that we get here at times, I'm always looking to something that doesn't cause the specs to fog up - especially on slower paced MTB and cross bike rides. Have ridden it in temps up to the high 20's and it has been fine.

Honestly I can't rave enough about this lid. It has replaced the $400 Uvex that I had before (and doesn't quite fit my head shape - no comments needed!!! :( - hence buying the new lid) - and is at least as good a helmet.

Bell (for whom it tolls)

have a Sweep... excellent...For me!

I have a long narrow head and Bells have always worked well for me.

Whatever you end up with: I hope it fits well, light weight, great ventilation and protects you well in event of a similar impact to last time.

Please let us know what you end up with.

Good luck js
