Need advise on new bike

I may be getting a new bike soon and need some advise on a bike my local bike shop can get me. It is a 2010 Felt FC with ultegra, in my size that the shop can get for around 2,100. I have also been looking at the Cervelo S2 which retails at 2,800. Also does anybody know what the weight of the Felt FC(61 cm) will be? So what's everybody think? Should I buy it?

Try them both and go with the one that you like to ride more. You will hear good and bad things about both Felt and Cervelo, in the end it usually comes down to personal preference.

Don't worry too much about the weight, a good carbon bike with Ultegra should come in at around 7.5 - 8kg fully fitted out (pedals, cages, computer etc).

Yes. No. Maybe.

You're looking at two different types of bike. The S2 is aerodynamically shaped, the FC is not. Given an identical setup and rider, the S2 will be slightly faster in a straight line, though whether this is actually important is open to debate. The downside is that it will probably not ride and handle as well; reviews of the S2 suggest that it has a notably rough ride.

You have to consider the type of riding you want to do (do you race? do you do long endurance rides?) the terrain you're riding on (how smooth are the roads in your area?) and your own abilities and preferences (do you have wrists that can tolerate road buzz?).

Frankly, if you don't race, I'd say a bike like the Felt makes much more sense - the marginal performance advantages aren't likely to be worth the extra cost and pain. If you race and want the last bit of performance advantage, maybe it's worth considering the Cervelo.

And, finally, whatever bike you buy, make sure that it's properly set up to fit you!

I know quite a few guys with both, the ones that buy the Felt tend to be faster - which is more a reflection on the customer base!!!

I am not sure if it is worth considering but around here Cervelos do seem to keep their price well, ie the name gives them a decent resale

Thanks for the replies, I have actually decided to go with a BMC Road Racer with ultegra. Looking forward to getting it Thursday and then racing it Sunday.

Felt FC is the better bang for buck
