In its twelfth edition, the cycling4fans.de Neo-professional Manager Game once again invites all members of cyclingnews to join us. The only thing you have to do, is to choose ten riders from our nonbinding list, I attached to this thread. It is possible, that this list will be modified once more. All riders on this list have signed their first contract with a PRT or PROF team. If you pick a non-neo-rider, this cyclist will be deleted from your team.

You can give your team a name, if you like and send it via PM to me.

Deadline: 13.01.2013, 23:59 (CET).

So, I just pick ten riders, and this is about which team gets the most CQ points by the end of the season? No limit on price?

You just pick ten of them. No price limits.

Points are not calculated by CQ but by the private point scheme of another C4F member (which is quite similar). Points can be obtained in all UCI elite races, but not in UCI U23 races.

There is a point scale.

I wouldn't describe it so negatively. The joy of the game is to predict good results and performances, not reacting to them. And to follow "your" neos throughout the season.

What happens if you include mid-season changes? All suddenly pick the same successful riders and get rid of underperformers - so all teams look the same then. That's why changes make no sense here.

Look at last year's top ten of riders:

1 Moreno MOSER 555.5
2 Sergio Luis HENAO MONTOYA 535
3 Arnaud DEMARE 533.5
4 Alexander SEREBRYAKOV 351.5
5 Sergey FIRSANOV 303.5
6 Luke DURBRIDGE 290
7 Andrew FENN 235
8 Jonathan CANTWELL 166
9 Wilco KELDERMAN 162.5
10 Dmitriy GRUZDEV 160.5

Some obvious names like Henao and Demare but also guys like Gruzdev and Serebryakov no one ever expected to perform that well. There have been years where the winning team included 8/10 sprinters, 2012 saw only four of them in the best rider list. So it's about finding a balance between stage race guys, sprinters and allrounders - and in the end it's all about the points gained.

It's really fun, believe me. Unless you have a crappy team like me last year (Grischa Janorschke, anyone? :D ).

I think you misunderstood me, I'm trying to understand the game mechanics, not make a judgement that it should include this or that.

Tim Wellens got a regular pro contract with Lotto last year already, same with Aru at Astana and Lammertink at Vacansoleil. So he's not eligible here.

Janorschke crashed throughout 2012 and was never able to get into something like form. And NetApp is well known for radically slashing injured neos (Keinath, Hesselbarth).

The points schedule is quite fair I must say. However some say that it tends to slightly prefer sprinters - just like I do. ;)
