The above links explain the scoring structure.

http://igcycling.com/the-ig-cycling-index/

The current leaderboard.

Advice: Those high in the rankings earn sponsor money but also eat up more of your budget; be careful with how many you select. Points are scored based on the increase after each update so a rider riding a different programme or who missed part of the season has an advantage. Alson look for riders who will break into the top 200.

I am going to wait 24 hours (or until most/all teams have chosen) before picking again just for this first period in the interests of competitive fairness. Any other players are free to do the same (especially those with one of the next selections).

Good luck

Interesting strategy.

It's worth remembering that you have a starting budget of €1,000,000 (i've already blown most of mine ) and need to pay wages for the first month (although you may receive some prize and sponsor money). Of course your budget will increase if your team is successful.

The purchase prices are listed in the excel file (€20,000 for any rider not in top 200).

I of course forgot to include my team name (Toblerone) when i made a purchase but obviously won't edit that post.

Thanks to Ace and the others for only picking one rider at a time - the right way to go. Cheers

Interesting to see three different tactis applied with the first three teams buying riders.

Toblerone goes for High Reward, High Risk - I wondered if anyone could resist getting Contador. It takes Toblerone to a very low budget with a danger of going bankrupt if things go pear shaped. However, it looks like it is a calculated risk as Contador, at the moment draws 20.000 more in RSM than wages. It will also lift the team up to first place with an extra 50.000 Euros TSM. The big question is if and how much Contador will slip in the rankings in the first part of the season as the sprinters and the classic specialists usually rise. If he slips too much the TSM/Wage will turn negative and the team will slip down the rankings as the classic teams will rise. If Toblerone can survive the next few month than they will earn big with Contador - as long he stays healthy. Of course, bankruptcy can always be avoided by selling him off but the loss will be a few 100.000 Dollars at least. Good on Toblerone to taks some risks.

Low risk, patient strategy.

Andy Schleck. (That would have been my choice too). Can't see that one go wrong. Unless terrible disaster strucks Andy will move into top 200 within months and than rise up the rankings to end up in the top 40 easily by the end of the season. And all that for 20.000 Euros. And even better. His wage will stay on 2.000. Brilliant move in my opinion.

Middle line: Matt Goss. That would have been my second choice. Of all top 40 guys he is the most likely to rise up in the next few months and also likely to stay up. Another good choice.

I will do purchases on behalf of other teams too. Some email me directly and can't do the Forum much (as they play at work and have restrictions), I also cover a friends team as he is away for a while (Team Nuts Nuts Nuts) and the some teams are run by the computer and I will purchase on the computers behalf.

Nuts Nuts Nuts buys Philippe Gilbert
Vodka - Skoda buys Cadel Evans
Mexican Food = Good buys Pozzovivio
Amsterdam - Port of Pot wants Cameron Meyer
Beer of Belgium wants Alexander Kristoff
DEUTSCHES BIER buys Steele van Hoffe

We try to go reverse order for next round.

Goss was my 2nd choice. Andy Schleck is interesting and will give lots of flexibility later on but the riders who can earn major sponsorship money could either be gone or remain too expensive.

Important Rules Change

There will be no active and inactive list anymore. Every team will have only one active list with 15 spots. The reasons are:

1. I made an logical error thinking that riders on the inactive list won’t earn money. They will because their points will go up and down no matter if they are in a team or not, or in the active list or not.
So effectively there is hardly any difference between active or inactive – so lets scrap it.
2. With 20 teams x 15 = 300 Riders – any more and we run out of riders a bit.
3. I introduces the inactive list after I test played it. To make it work I need to put a lot more programming time in it. But I am too busy running the game and looking after the rest of the program
4. It doesn’t change the game a lot but makes it more complicated – so we keep it simple
5. I won’t change the Team Sheet. So the space for the inactive list will still be there but the program will not fill the spaces. After 15, the list is full.

Last signing until Contador starts bringing in the dollars:

Toblerone sign Steven Kruijswijk

****, you are pushing your Busget right to the limit. Hope you have a few "Toblerone Bars" on the side to save your riders from starving. :)

We have only between 6 - 8 human players so far. I fill the other teams with riders to keep them competitive so new players can take them over. Maybe you guys can advertise a bit so we get a few more managers before the TdU? Maybe you can use your email list, forums.
