Newb needs help remembering....

Hi I'm new here as a matter of fact just found this sight and have
been looking it over and reading everyone's comments.

Here is my question and I apologize for its vagueness.

Last year I was watching a race on VS. I believe it was in France but I
could be wrong. I think it was the final stage of the race and I am positive
it was a TT. It was around or along the shore of a beautiful huge lake.
For some reason I thought it was the Dauphine Libere but after checking all
the info I can find on that race it doesn't look like it ended with a TT.
But there again I am not a 100% sure it was the final stage.

I was very much struck by the beauty of the area and would love to find
out where it was.
I realize there is not alot of info to go on here but any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Looking over Google Earth I am thinking it was a TT around or along the
shores of Lac du Bourget. Maybe in Aix-les-Bains or Bourdeau.

I keep searching for races that had TT near those areas and I keep
coming up with nothing.

Have you considered the list of races shown on Versus is very small. . . so if you can find the schedule of last years Cyclism on Versus, you can then search each race via the CN archives.

I found last years schedule: the rest is up to you It may have changed, but this is all I could find in print. Last years Giro on had a TT in Palermo, on the Med Sea.

Thanks lostintime. I had checked VS. but obviously did not do a very
good job as I couldn't find a schedule for their broadcast of last years
races.

I will start to look through each race and see if I can figure out which
one it was.

I don't think it was Crit. International. No TT near a lake.

Was the Circuit de la Sarthe on television? It doesn't sound familiar.

After looking up info on all the races lostintime posted I am starting
to have doubts.

I still think it was on the shores of Lac du Bourget for some reason.

I can hear Paul Sherwin in my head giving some interesting little tidbit about the lake. Saying something like it is the deepest or largest fresh water lake in France.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I know I haven't really given any
good info to go on.
Shoot for all I know it could have been 2007!!! That is just how my
memory works

Do you know in what month/(spring/summer/autumn) you saw that TT? That would make the search a lot easier as well.

I believe it was pre TDF so I would say, spring or early summer. That is why I originally thought it was Dauphine Libere. I have even checked the 2007 DL to no avail.

It's got to be the DL in 2008 (last year you said right?)

For stage 4 it's back to Vienne then 193 kilometres on to Annemasse, almost right at the southern end of Lake Geneva. There will be plenty of spectacular scenery amongst the rolling hills, small peaks and river valleys of this part of France, with perhaps a few glimpses just to the south down the valley to the beautiful Lac du Bourget but no time to visit the hot springs at Aix-les-Bains.
