In the interview BW talks a lot about the money the big riders earn and the frustration he feels - and then a year on things get worse - I certainly would understand if a talented rider in his position decided to join the 'arms race'.

+1.....I felt the SAME way about Lance back in 1997.

The interview was in 2007 - and going on the assumption that BW's comments were correct at the time - what
has happened since should deflate any enthusisum he had for change.
.

So you're saying that if the going gets tough, it is time to surrender?
Maybe BW should be protesting MORE these days not LESS...right?

It was easy to be anti-doping in 2007. Marketing Strategy even.

But maybe BW has now realized that all the anti-doping hysteria has damaged the sport?

There is more anti anti-doping backlash coming btw.
My sources tell me next week.
More backlash.

i dislike wigans more than any other rider. because he's a whiner, a hypocrite and a loudmouth. my dislike for him, or any other rider, has nothing to do with where they're from.

ed rader

nothing he said in the interview that makes him a loudmouth. all true to me. If he is dirty it has not shown yet.

c'mon guys. wipe the fog off of your glasses. the guy rode for jv and now for sky and is actually considered a tour contender. he has joined the "arms race." now he can finally cash in on his talent. go easy on him. at least he tried to race clean. there's only so long you can get screwed over before you finally decide enough is enough and you gotta get summa yours.

he was not clean then. Come on. He was not clean as a pro. But, he was not doing anything else, than anyother of his fellow pros. He should not be castigated as an individual. Like how the Spaniards are the whipping boyz. But Wigans was not a clean rider, like anyone else at his level, defies all belief.

I guess he must of been doping for his track career, because otherwise he wasn't getting a lot of results on the road (in just about all of his wins have been in the ITT or the TTT).

Great interview, all true.I love Wiggo. I do not understand why he is hated on the forum. I think a lot of the hatred is nationalistic. Like the hatred of the ToC, Lance Zabrinskie, Levi, TD.

I am surprised you do not understand why he and everyone else who is successful is hated on this forum. The inhabitants of this sewer hate cycling and do not believe it is possible for anyone except perhaps Greg Lemond to achieve success without doping. I don't understand why Cycling News sponsors a forum that has been taken over by libellous haters in general and the anti-LA cottage industry in particular.

So that makes it ok? "But Mom, EVERYONE else is doing it....."""

Wiggo anno 2007 ripping into the Hog @ 6 minutes in. :D

Someone should ask him what he thinks of Bruyneel today.

Did I get the right thread this time...?

I would have to re-listen but i think he said 1 million euro which at the time was about £650,000 (and brad isnt on a million). I think the easy jet thing was genuine, i dont think he was on too much money then, cath was flying out to paris, so he carried on. I think as far as the vino thing goes, Brad was a good time triallist at the time, he would know how much he put into that tt, and what realistically should be possible clean, and guaged from that that vinos two minutes was juiced. My only problem with the interview is he implies cav is clean, he might have been then, but im far from convinced now.

BUt still a damn good listen and amazing how not much has changed, the old guys are still around. Maybe not for much longer.

Brad did quite well in the albi tt that vino tested + in. What did he actually say about bruyneel?

Just listen to it. :p

He says that he thinks its sad that some team management are happy with doping. Are prepared to take on riders under suspicion, take on former dopers, and pay riders they know are doping if it gets the results. He critisised rabobank a lot for letting the chicken start the tour when they knew he was suspect.
