This is one of the legendary moments in the career of motopacing cycling club
I am glad that race officials observed professional observation of rules and the spirit of the rules. Just on the limited camera shots had riders holding on to cars and drafting off of vehicles. Had amateur rules been observed and applied fairly, multiple riders would have been disqualified.
I am also very happy that no trolls caught traction at TDF when multiple riders, including Cavendish were accused of towing. Yes some riders grabbed on to a vehicle or two but not to any significant advantage..

Matthews must've been 'one of the strongest out there' for every big race in the past 10 years now. An example of a huge talent who rides about hoping the race will somehow fall into his lap.

The one time I can remember him taking the initiative he won in brilliant fashion (TDF 2022 stage 14)

It was the belgian teamtactics that Van Aert had to go or react on the cobbled hill and Evenepoel on the two other climbs. Which both executed perfectly. So, who has 0 wheel knowledge (of cycling) ? It's you, I think.
There are a lot of overreactions in the middle of the race, this was one of them. But Remco being so far out of position wasn't a brilliant tactic, he needed some luck for the group to get back together.

Simply, he did not have the legs. End of story.

Yeah, there is some crazy stuff he says in there —especially about the bibs and numbers. Perhaps he didn’t recognize the Ugandan jersey, but does he not remember what MVDP looks like or fails to connect the orange jerseys with the Dutch team? For the type of race he was planning, that’s really all he needed to know!

Matthews is tactically naive. In Amstel Gold he waited for MVDP to make an attack which never happened. We all know that MVDP attacks with 50 or 60okms to thin out the group, so once this does not occur then you attack. He had to follow when Pidcock attacked out of the group. Does this and he wins the race, instead of winning the sprint from the MVDP group.
