Ok - so the riders have objected to being called dopers.
That is their right and they are more than entitled to do so - and clean riders should be particularly upset at any conceived slur.
However having a unified protest against comments will only highlight the pelotons role in deflecting the real issue - do you dope or do you not dope?
If individual riders wish to make a stand and state they are not doping - then why not release their Biological passport information to a neutral agency?
Perhaps in an effort to restore some credibility they could pay for a test against platicizers from samples taken from a sample before a target in their season.
The tests cost $500 - which for the UCI to do collectively is a large sum - but for individual riders would seem a small price to pay to show their transparency and restore some confidence in the sport.
