Hi Guys,

So nice of you to run a competition on an international website that is only open to Americans. I realise your claim of being the world centre of cycling is a bit of a stretch, but the US is not the world centre of cycling...

So nice of you to include the rest of us poor mortals - not.

Thanks Orbea! Thanks for nothing.

We put up with the annoying pop up Orbea bike ads and then they dont let you get the chance to win the ****ing thing.

I must remember to re-enable my pop up blocker...

Hi Sublimit. I apologize that you're seeing the ads in the UK. You're right in that we should be sensitive when we run a contest that is restricted to one geographic area not to overly promote it to another. In the case of a news story about a contest, we have no ability to limit that story to only be seen by one geographic region but as for ads - ads can be targeted so it is an error for you to see them in the UK. I am working with our ad operations team to resolve the targeting now and hopefully, you wont see them any more.

Hi Chappy:

I know it's frustrating for a contest to run that doesn't include all geographic areas but this one is an initiative of Orbea's US distributor and even though we are a global website, we do our best to help the cycling industry in all parts of the world meet their marketing objectives. In this case, the goal of Orbea USA is to educate cyclists on their new custom bike building application.

Whenever possible, we want contests to serve our entire audience but it's not always possible.

To prevent annoying people, we try to limit the visibility of the contest to only that geographic region that is eligible. Like I wrote to Sublimit, we do that by restricting the ads that promote the contest to the geographic region that is eligible. There seems to be a challenge with that restriction that I am trying to resolve.

I am working on a couple of other contests this year (around the Classics, the Tour of California and the Tour de France) that will likely be global and give you plenty of opportunity to participate fro prizes so please keep reading.

OK, No problem.

Actually the ads I'm seeing dont mention the competition as such- just info on a particular Orbea bike..And I just presumed thats the one you get the chance to win in the US.
