So, every once-in-a-while weather means there'll be changes.
Guess that's part of a sport that takes place outdoors.

Because it's still cycling.
Watch a flat, joke of a stage, neutered because modern cyclists are too coddled. No thanks, I won't give them my time. All eyes on TA. If we all did this, maybe the sport would get the message. It's there job, cover up and take less risks. They are an insult to those who, on far less wages, were duty bound.

That entertainment is more important than safety?
Naah! Better watch to ensure the organisers get the message that at least some of us understand that sometimes the weather just makes the original plan impossible.
Besides; would you be complaining if the stage had always been planned with whatever route it ends up with?
That you insist on knowing the route weeks ahead is your headache.

It's never about safety and I'm *** sick of people pretending it is.

Bunch of crybabies don't want to get wet, but when they nearly murder each other in a sprint they'll just call it a "racing incident".

It is textbook gaslighting and I'm frankly amazed so many people fall for it.
This, except that I'm not amazed because the amount of people that fall for gaslighting and disinformation is incredibly high in every walk of life. If a lot of people are idiots, then it would be weird if cycling fans are an exception to the rule.

If they care soo much about "safety" why not cancel the sprint stages altogether? Like they are just as dangerous most of the shortened/canceled stages.

Ironically, the sprinters are amongst the most vocal about "safety" in the mountain stages. I wonder why?
Anything but show responsibility.

When a rider skill issueses himself off a cliff, organisers are at fault

Cycling is a dangerous sport, for the intrepid, play golf if one doesn't want to be in danger. The reason why the sport has a heroic past, is because they rode rain or shine within reason.

New route modification - stage start at 13:45

As weather conditions have deteriorated further compared with yesterday’s forecast, the race organisers have decided to make additional changes to the route for stage 7, in consultation with the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture, the UCI race jury, and representatives of the teams and of the riders.
To avoid the sections made dangerous by rain in the first part of the route, riders will be transferred in their team buses to a new start location on the Louis Nucéra bridge, at Le Broc. After a 2.5 kilometre transfer, the official start will be given at kilometre 73 of the original route. The finish line remains in Isola-Village, at the end of a route now reduced to 47 kilometres.

well, I honestly don't care much today as neither of the stage profiles looked any exciting - nor is there likely to be much of a difference between this 50k short sprint stage compared to the 120k short sprint stage we had before.

But sure they are racing for our entertainment. What else would anyone pay them for?

the same weather with rain and wind is expected tomorrow and they'd have to climb the Col de la Porte above 1000 meters

It is as I feared yesterday. The riders have no real idea about weather forecasts. They have probably seen a picture with snow in their chat group this morning and decided that they have to cancel even though the weather will be better later. Many also just don't want to race in the rain and go along with the decision.

Ironically, the weather in the hours before the stage is more important than the actual weather during the stage for these decisions.
