Paul Sherwen is taking notes

I am catching up on some dvr'd races and Paul Sherwen has been listening to the Dutch commentators. A few times some action has occurred and he has said "Oh la la..." and continued with his drivel.

That is not the main problem, though. Apparently he has reached into the suitcase of courage, pulled out a dictionary and randomly selected a new favorite word. Or more likely he heard another commentator say it.

The word is "stormer." The amount of times he has noted that any rider pushing the pace is on a stormer/storming ride is ridiculous.

He almost makes me wish that Bob Roll will talk even more than he already does. Roll has gotten a ton better. He doesn't spew his inane ramblings any longer. He does string some coherent sentences on occasion. It's just that he talks and talks and talks. He is a color guy that gives his color to *every* single comment that Paul makes and he drones on and on and on and on and on.

I almost welcome his stupid commercials where nobody will ride with him.

How do you say 'extremely Technical descent' in Dutch, Flemish and Oolalaish? Especially when the view out the back of the motorbike shows asphalt going straight for as far as you can see to the top of the hill and a string of cyclists pedlaing like mad down the hill?

Saturday's descent at the Dauphine, OK, that WAS a daredevil descent, moreso by the Colombian flyweight than by Evans who gained 8 seconds for his effort. Nibali also made a tricky descent (was that Sunday?) but really, some of these announcers desperately need to be put out to pasture just for overusing their same tired phrases inappropriately.

Roll just needs the guys in the white suits and the funny jacket.

Still better than the awkward silences on Eurosport.
