Going on current palmarès, Pogacar isn't even in the top 5 riders of all time, he has to win all 3 GT's and all 5 monuments to even be in the discussion.
However, at the end of Pogacar's career I think he'll be clear of Merckx.

Better than Pogacar's. PCS have him at number 8, so I think what I said is true. People just listen to all the media glazing him 24/7 and have huge recency bias.
Like I said, 10 years time, he'll be number 1, but nit currently.

Naah, I don't think Valverde, Moser and even Kelly have better palmares than Pogacar.
You could probably make and argument about Coppi, perhaps Gimondi, who are behind him in PCS, but clearly ghese 3 are behind Pogacar. 4 Tours is a huuuge advantage over the 3 people I mentioned above.

What I don’t get about those who say Pogacar is better, or the goat, is their almost rabid desire for it to be true.
He hasn’t done anything unprecedented (yet) and his palmares so far do not reflect goat status.

We could assume if he stays on his current form he can more or less equal Merckx , but that’s a huge assumption

Injuries, illness, lack of motivation are all possible. It’s possible that he’s done too much too soon and will fizzle out quicker than we anticipate.

That actually is quite probable, otherwise it would be unprecedented. He even is talking about a lack of motivation himself, worrying signs.

Prestigelisten is much better and he is 3rd there and likely to pass Hinault next spring.

But nah, Van Looy has as many big one day races as Pogacar, only with more variety.
