Hi ! i repost my thread here because i don't think cafe is the best place for that ^^

I'm an engineer student and for the moment i work on a project relative to cycling. We are trying to build pedals that can measure power output.Of course, These ones would also be able to measure your pedaling cadence, your speed, how many meters you climbed etc...)
but the main goal of our work is to design something far less expensive than the devices build by the concurrence, in order to democratize the product... a kind of "low-cost "power-output meter.
I'm nearly a daily cyclingnews forum reader (specially alberto thread =D) , so i thought about you guys here to help me a bit in my work =).
I have a poll here and i would be very grateful if you can fill it. it only takes a few minutes =D

the link : https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1X-r...?usp=send_form

thank you!

Maybe this is why you do not get answers:

Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist.
Make sure that you have the correct URL and that the owner of the file hasn't deleted it.

I saw it initially but it's gone now.

I think it was more about coaching that about power meters. I found many of the questions didn't address some of the more important issues for someone considering using/purchasing a power meter.

I just assumed it was a student project rather than a serious attempt at doing what a dozen other businesses already are attempting to do. There are already about 20 brands of on-bike power measurement, I kind of figure 21 won't make a huge difference, but you never know. So I wish you all the best with the project.

Good morning, I read that you speak of power meters. I am undecided whether to buy it or not, and what I'd like is this http://www.tecnobici.com/shop/index.php?id_product=820&controller=product do you think is good? Help me =D

Do you have aluminum cranksets? If yes, look at this. Reliable, easy to install, use and much less $.

'Problem' with the pedal based system, other than the $, is if you fall, you kill it.

Other than for serious racers, why bother with a power meter at all?

You'd be surprised(maybe not)..old farts and 'enthusiats', that trundle round for that twice a week, 25 miler, still talk about their 'training' rides. Gotta have the latest 15 pound wunder bike with all the gadgets and gizmos.

I got ride of my 'bike computer' 20 years ago.
