Re: Re:

EBH would have just ended into 2 against 1 situation where he would have lost. His results from this season confirm this. Peto and GVA are way more hotter horses these days. Besides EBH put the pressure on Germans as Dege was biggest threat for final sprint above all as he is rider who handles best this type of triplet power climbs in late part of arrive to final K. And Germans had power for Ďege leadout, Kristoff had only EBH. So Norway played two cards. If peloton catched them all I'd say Dege or Kristoff.

I'm hoping for that, otherwise elite men's road race will be predictable as never before. Germany has probably 2 greatest sprinters in the world and panzerwagon is able to catch an early break alone by him himself driving 200 km on the front. No doubt. You can mark my words:)
But back to the topic... poor man of richmond are men from spanish team. I think their performance is still under influence of Florence WC disaster. Did they have anybody in Boonen/Kwiatkowski attack? Cant remember. I even cant remember if I saw them leading the peloton or attack with strong guys from peloton. Did they have a tactics? What was it?:(

i dont think spanish team had the legs, valverde was the strongest and he admitted he just didnt have it which is not surprising considering they rode tour and vuelta...also the profile didnt suit them at all

I didn't see a single Frenchman until the penultimate lap. Then I realised that it wasn't a Frenchman but a Luxembourger. So yeah, I never saw a Frenchman in the race.

Démare was first at the bottom of Libby Hill and Bouhanni 5th when Sagan did his move. :D

The point is Sagan was never going to sit up unless someone stuck to his wheel first, and they weren't going to catch him unless he sat up. EBH didn't put any pressure on Germany - they had to chase Sagan regardless.

Not how I saw it. I don't know if he had the power to help, but when he chose not to help GVA he was limiting Norway to silver at best. It wasn't a split second decision and ended up being a miscalculation. Had they reached Sagan neither likely helps Sagan and it comes back together give a shot to Kristoff. Kristoff easily might have been beaten by Dege or the guys who beat him, but at least he would have had a non zero chance at Gold. Since Kristoff almost always wins his group, but failed to this time I'm guessing EBH was Norway's best chance. Super hard to know and make the correct decision after 256km of racing.

True dat. Must say I myself saw it bit wrong as I watched last 4 km again.. Dege blew quite badly at the upper edge of 23rd Street climb. It just wasn't his day. Leadout or not, not his day.
