Post your bike rides profiles

i was wondering if we could post some of our rides profiles and compare to see how different are the areas we live on and how much does the influence as as "riders" :p

i will go first. . . today's training:

treino_zps0b6159cb.png

my legs definitively felt the football games i had during the week on today's ride  felt slow and heavy

Been a while since I've been out for a training ride (I could come up with some lame excuse like I'm too busy at Uni, but the truth is I'm just too damn lazy) but here's where I've taken to riding:

It's kinda small and I don't have any details on it. Just remember; it's Denmark so not that hilly... :p

(And yeah... it's the circuit used in Tour of Denmark...)

That's a nice little climb there Parrulo. I would give a leg for a climb like that in my area. Metaphorically, of course :D

Passo_San_Marco_Morbegno_profile.gif

This is the toughest climb I've done this year (and in my life, actually). Doesn't look that difficult, but especially the middle part is annoying. It looks steady on the profile, but the actual percentage varies from like 3% to 15% constantly. But km 23.5-25.5 really killed me in the end, luckily I could see the top and I was chased by an Italian, so I had no choice but to stay on the bike. He caught me with 500m to go and we had quite an interesting discussion about cycling, bike racing and the differences between Italy and the Netherlands. And Vinokourov for that matter, as I was wearing my Astana jersey.

Will post some other rides I did in the area as well as my Dutch ride(s) in the next week.

that's one evil climb, i have never done nothing as tough as that. the closest i got to that is torre from seia and that is like 400k away from my place

with college i call only ride 2 times per week, i usually do a tough ride on saturday and a softer one on sunday, during the week i play football with my friends and do some running.

if i turn right(second exit of the roundabout where i turned left which is the third exit) instead of left on the part where it starts to go downhill for 14k i can climb for another 15 or so but it isn't very steep. if i exit on the first exit on the roundabout (still a right turn) i have a bit of downhill and then a tough climb. let me see if i can get the full profile.

this is the harder climb i can think of in my area.the profile starts somewhere in the middle of the big downhill of the last profile and just before the 8k point is the roundabout where i turned left today and started the downhill.

What kind of speeds would you be doing on the flat v the steeper climbs?

neither of us have bike computers on our bikes but i doubt we were going faster then 10 km/h on the steepest sections of the climb while on the less steep part we were probably going at almost twice the speed.

as you can see our ride didn't have any flat as the last part was always up and down with some massive head wind to boost. . . but we did the last 25k in 45 minutes which i guess isn't all that good lol

Don't complain, you live on the most beautiful par of Portugal: Viana do Castelo, Braga (I think)!
This thread comes really at the right time. My rides usually are just around my hometown (flats, it's a fight to find decent climbs). Today however: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/139377531

It was my first climb throw Seia. I rode 2 time last year by Covilhã and 2 years ago from Manteigas.

It was raining, cold, windy (windy like: I hope I don't crash, all my weight on the righ side of the bike to keep it on a straight line) and lots and lots of fog (like: Where is Lagoa Comprida? Oh here it is, 3m away from me).

I absolutely loved it, my favourite climb ever really. All the rain pouring down, not being able to see properly on the small descents, not feeling hands, arms and feet due to the cold by the end of the climb. I'm still waiting everything sinks in, it was f**** great :)

About the climb: way easier than Covilhã don't you think? There isn't endless non stop walls (like Covilhã-Sanatório), I could even ride on some bigger gears :) I didn't really feel that's a proper MTF, I hope the Volta does it by Covilha next year.....

ya i live in Monção, Viana do Castelo :) i have actually never climbed the torre even tho i wish i would have. so you think torre from covilha is tougher then torre from seia?i thought seia was the toughest side to be honest. damn rain prevented me from going on a ride yesterday, i don't mind riding in the rain but i simply didn't felt like riding in it yestersay.

I am pretty sure we could make a pretty big club of people on same situation as us lol

NO idea to be honest for performance ,alls i know is Ive moved from 3rd hole along my belt to using the 5th one,and hadnt used the 5th one in a longgg time:D
Besides im kinda busy in regards time for the bike so it lets me get a lot in,and need practice for all the walls around these ways.

Edit, DISCLAIMER ......
Iknow short hill repeats not best way to burn fat,but thread kinda about why as much as where you ride. For fitness tips see relevant forum....no wait actually they all nuts in fitness section, its basically two guys been arguing since 347 BC about crank length and bananaman(Durianrider)

Yeah well, I was in Alsace/Vosges in April, Northern Alps and Jura Mountains in June/July and did Ötztaler in August so I guess I shouldn't complain too much, though it would be nice if there was a tougher 'climb' than 1km @3% or 500m @5% in my area...

Monção is great. As a matter of fact, every city/village alongside Minho river is great: Cerveira, Caminha, Valença... To me Covilhã is much harder really. Just as you're leaving town, you get something like 8km with non stop walls, sharp bends with high grades. Basically no rest. And then the last 4km are also harder than from Seia. Maybe I'm wrong but Seia looked like a climb where a TT'er can hang on because there aren't big walls. Covilhã seems to me a whole other story: a good climber can probably put a lot of hurt there.

But well what do I know, I'm not a bike rider I only climb this things for fun at a (very) modest pace :)

On the weekends I'll usually do a nice long ride. During the road racing season I'll do even longer rides, one weekend I did 80 miles on saturday and another 80 the next day. Saturdays during the racing season I'll go ride with a bunch of cat 1's 2's and 3's on long rides that can be anywhere from 60 to 100 miles.

Have you tried Brede? If you come from the west (Holte/Virum), you first go down towards the creek and railway line, and instantly after the crossing you have a climb of about 8%. Of course it's only ~300 m.
Still, going up and down that one (or go up the one side, turn around and go down, up the other side towards Virum, and down etc.) would make for some good hill repeats.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out some day. Høje Sandbjergvej (730m @6%) is probably my favourite (though the last part is really more suited to Cross or Mtb than Road Bikes).

I've tried that one once. But I turned around after maybe 200 m, as I didn't want to ruin my road bike. And because I suffered...

Really more of a flat rider myself.

is it offensive if i say i was expecting you to ride flatter stuff wearing an aero helmet? :p

that is one nice ride i must say

He he no.:)

But i would love to try riding a TT bike once at least;)
I don't ride that long always. IT's a matter of time and motivation really. I'd say my average ride is ca 40km. It's aways on the MTB, though.
