Hi. After searching for a photos thread for sharing our photos of any pro-cyclists we've met or seen at race related events and not finding any suitable one (there was one for general photos that hadn't been posted in for a decade and one for Great Pro Cycling Pics - mine are anything but great or professional!) I thought I'd create a thread (suggested to me by another forum member) for us to share any photos we've taken of various pro-cyclists (on their own or whole teams) at different races or other cycling relating events. I've enjoyed attending several races and a couple of charity fundraising cyclist events over the past few years. It's wonderful to be at these races, seeing all my favourite riders and watching the race departs, finish lines and/or on the sign in stages and winner's podiums. It's brilliant, as a sport, that we get to watch all this free! We are very lucky!

Anyway, I thought I'd first share some photos I took at last November's BeKing charity cycling event in Monaco and last month's Tirreno-Adriatico (first two stages). These are pics of some of the cyclists posing for my camera. I have tons of other pics of other riders I saw at different events, either on the sign-in stage or at the start/finish of races.

Here are a couple of photos I took in the lobby of the hotel my friend and I were staying in, in Lido Di Camaiore for the start of last month's Tirreno-Adriatico stage race. Our hotel was hosting the press conferences and other meetings relating to the race. It seemed to be used as the race HQ. There was a lot going on! This was on the day before the first stage, which was an ITT. Mathieu Van Der Poel and Filippo Ganna turned up to take part in the press conference that afternoon. We were so thrilled to see them and briefly meet them. The third photo is of Dylan Groenewegen, who I saw leaving his team bus, which was parked up near my hotel. Well, I just had to say hello and he was so nice. Such a thrill to meet some of my favourite riders like this. Don't usually get the chance to at some of the big races, which are busy, hectic and packed out with people. Everything was so nice and relaxed at Tirreno-Adriatico and lots of riders were hanging around, chatting to people as well as doing reccies up and down the main road that ran in front of the hotel. We certainly picked the right place to stay, two years running, lol!

Mathieu Van Der Poel (bad colouring as the lighting was dim in the foyer and I didn't want to blind him by using a flash!)

Here are some pics I took at the first BeKing charity event I went to in 2023. Unlike 2024 when the rain was torrential it was lovely and sunny in 2023! I love Monaco, it's one of my favourite places to visit. If I was rich I'd live there if I could! Well, near there at least - the whole of the Cote D'Azur region is so gorgeous! I especially adore the city of Nice.

@EllaChimp Re your enquiry on how to delete a thread: I believe that if you delete the first post in the thread, which you can do as the poster, it will remove the thread. BUT I would suggest that is not necessary. If the thread is to share our own photos, then most of us will not have anything to share, but we might still appreciate it.

But appreciating it doesn't necessarily mean we have much to say: Yes, that is a photo of Jans Van Rijdabyk, it looks like the team-released photo of him. Release them more gradually, attach a bit of a story, tell us who was chatty and accommodating and who was grumpy, or even whose photo is missing because they refused: what is the where and when of all those Pogacar pics?

And, in time, others of us who get a chance to attend the start of a race or a team promotional event will have our own photos to add.

That option goes away at some point for regular posters and I don't know when/how, maybe after there's been replies.
OK: thanks.

so, @EllaChimp , if you really want to remove this, let me know and I will.

BUT, even if you feel discouraged (I'm sure no-one here wants you to feel that) and don't post any more: leave the post and either the thread will soon drop to obscurity or others will dig out photos that they have taken in the past or get a chance to take in the future. Or some of us will remember that it is here and if we want a better picture of the aforementioned Jan van Rijdabyk than we see on PCS, we have a nice resource.

Deletion is possible if you really want to, but I don't believe it is the best response.

@EllaChimp If i can make a suggestion. Since i don't think many people have lots of pictures to share, don't expect many/frequent posts from other forum members. Chances are this is going to end up being the Magnificent EllaChimp Pro Cyclist Pictures Thread when all is said and done.

So, maybe it is an idea not to show loads of images per post. But either show one image per post, or do it by rider/event per post. First of all, it would leave time/space for others responding, and even if nobody responds, by curating your images per post this way, you could list your images per post in the opening post of the topic to keep it orderly and manageable to look up certain images from a topic with dozens, hundreds of images. You could put links on the list, so when people click either the name of the rider or the event, you go to the post with that/those images. Your list could look like:

Tadej Pogacar at Tirreno Adriatico 2021
Remco Evenepoel at Paris Nice 2024
Marianne Vos
Ashleigh Moolman
Lotte Kopecky after Paris Roubaix 2024
Primoz Roglic at Catalunya 2023
etc
etc

When those descriptions were to also be links, people could click on them to bring them to the post with the images that obviously fit the description. The link to a specific post can be found by clicking on the timestamp at the top of a post. An example of how it could work:

Post by moderator regarding deletion
Post by AmRacer to encourage you
Post by Red Rick on thread deletion by user

...

It's just a suggestion.

Scratch all that. Due to images loading after navigating to a specific post, the images will push the post down upon loading.
