Question of Quality

I am looking to replace my current frame with a higher quality carbon fiber frame. There is a company DHgate.com on the net that is offering Pinarello Dogma 60.1 and D2 frames for great prices. My question is, are these frames of the same high quality of construction and materials as the the frames from the bike manufacturer directly? These frames look great and the cost is incredible but are they junk frames or a great bargin? You no the old saying you get what you pay for. Any feedback would be helpful.

These are the answers I was looking for. I am aware that as I said you get what you pay for, but I'm also aware that the mark up on frames is probably 500 to 600 percent of what it actually costs to make carbon fiber frames in these Asian countries, and that most carbon fiber frames are made in these countries ( Taiwan or China ).

Looks like Pinarello China to me. Compare some of the images to genuine pinarellos, if you find subtle differences then buyer beware.

Although they may not be genuine Pinarellos the price is very attractive

For the cost it maybe well worth the effort but if it fails, can you live with throwing the money away?

They are even cheaper at http://www.pinarellochina.com/.

When you don't pay a lot for a 'pro' frame, you get a cheap frame.

$700 for a Pinarello that sells for $5700 or so, what do ya think?

Do ya suppose they are genuine?

(Suggestion, email Gita Sports and ask them).

No, these are not the same frames. Pinarellos are made by Carbotec in Taiwan. These fakes are made by Flybike, a company started in China by former employees of Carbotec and Martec, who apparently took a mold with them.

The quality of the carbon won't be the same. Only the mold and the paint will be similar.

As far as quality control testing, you're it.

What could possibly go wrong? ;-)

I agree, if the OP wants a Pinarello, then pay for a Pinarello. Cosmetically, it's not the same product.

A direct supplier striving for rich Western markets will actively pursue CEN testing and send you the results. Just ask about it. It's a point of pride. As it should be.

That's what he's doing :)

Hardly, he is a first time poster who has started a new topic for something that has been covered ad nauseum, indeed, there are also directly related threads such as the OEM thread where there is high quality information about the same subject = laziness
