I will be spending some time in NY soon and wanted to know if anyone can recommend either a good velodrome that has open race nights, or any winter Crits or Road Races open to non USA cycling members in the NY area, so I can make a decision about what bike to bring...failing that....even if someone has any info on the alley cat scene

Any direct experience would be greatly appreciated!

spokepost.com does a great job listing most of the races that occur in the Northeast part of the United States.

http://spokepost.com/calendar/

Brooklyn always seems to have weekly races going on, never participated in any of them. I'm pretty sure Queens also has a velodrome racing-check out August 11 date, location Flushing, NY.

Also if you can get out to the Finger Lakes region (Syracuse, Rochester area) there is awesome riding and racing out there.
