"RadioShack team hotel searched by NAS on Giro d'Italia rest day. Story coming."

The only thing that is coming to mind at the moment is whether this has anything to do with the Ferrari investigation, or the Popo thing from last year

Surely by now teams and riders would know better than to keep incriminating stuff in their hotel rooms??

Radioshack have been performing so badly at the Giro NAS thought they'd drop by and give them some old surplus stock from the 2002 Giro.

If they took anything with them it is gone by now,

One would think. On the other hand, this is Italy not the US. And it's the Giro. There's zero chance the authorities in Italy don't know the best day to catch a team with doping products will be on the rest day.

It's also possible that they did the reverse psychology deal and figured that would be the day the teams would do their best to avoid having anything in their rooms: everyone talks about refueling on rest days.

Is it possible that, knowing the culture of cycling quite intimately, and realizing that the likelihood of finding doping products is somewhat dimished by the preponderance of rumors about rest day doping, that the NAS decided to pay a visit on a day when no one would expect them?

I would bet in today's peloton, that LAST day you'd actually find anything in a team room would be the rest day. That's not to say they aren't refueling, but possibly elsewhere away from the most obvious place.

Maybe not...

Not trying to go all conspiracy theorist here. Definitely not wearing my tinfoil hat, but I honestly wouldn't waste my time looking for PED's on the rest day.

Of all the teams at this Giro, the Shack must be one of the least suspicious but I guess when you have reputation, its hard to escape from.

exactly.

Radioshack and Armstrong, that's part of past. If you wanna clean up cycling, start with Saxobank, fcol.
There's a guy there setting pretty inhumane new limits of what is humanly possible.

And like we discussed in the other thread, I wouldn't bother looking for PED's in the actual hotel of the team. Sounds like they stop off along the way at some other hotel where some lacky got a room to do their dirty business in. Brilliant simplicity: Never take the drugs with you anywhere. Let some minion do that and take them to a hotel off the beaten path. You look clean as a whistle when they come to where you sleep.

Never sh!t where you sleep.

Actually he's a bit slower than and not quite putting out the same power as Armstrong.

Zomegnan will help the brothers out too. In 2008 he had say over what tests were performed on Giro samples. Nothing published suggests that has changed. The way the GC has sorted itself out Zomegnan is running out of time to 'inject' some drama into the race.

They should have searched rooms in California, but the U.S. is a 'growth market' for the UCI. Italy? Not so much.

You mean the guy who finished the Zoncolan two minutes slower than Andy Schleck? That's the guy setting "inhumane" new limits?
