Radioshack facing 2 month suspension

Something similar happened with Quickstep last year for one of the classics or Tour of Belgium or whatever. They busted out some retro jerseys, wore them to the start, got threatened and changed. (memory fuzzy...) Then this year, they used the jersey from the start. ONCE used to wear pink jerseys during the Tour. Don't recall that being a problem.

Only because their normal yellow jerseys would've clashed with the maillot jaune.

Same with SDV and their jersey. They had to add more white panels.

Oh, and QST wanted to wear these at Ronde 09, but the organizers said they'd be prevented from starting. They went to the sign-in with them, but went back to change.

humpf. a watered-down suspension during the offseason is useless. if you're going to suspend the rider, do it when that rider would have been racing meaningfully. i.e., april-may for horner.

They should have simply told RSH to change their shirts at the time, and told the rest of the race carry on and leave them behind. If they wanted to retain their team classification lead, they could have tried to TTT to catch up with the peloton (but GCE might have decided to drive the peloton at higher than typical last day speeds).

I agree, at the time I was shouting at the telly to start the race and let them try to catch up. Banning the riders now just brings, more "positive cancer" attention to HWSNBN.

The year that the TDF started in Ireland, the Saeco/Cannondale-Cipo team had planned to wear green jerseys with "Peace in Ireland and worldwide" and "peace" on both shoulders. And peace signs and "EARTH". They were halted in their plans and never wore them as instructed. They may have been fined. Cipo teams had been fined in other races. They stilll got style points from most fans. Cannondale released that jersey for sale with their dealers. But rules are rules and the show goes on. Hopefully nothing much is impacted. The RadioShack team needed to side step and still make their point. Not handled very smoothly. They could have gotten their point across better by not wearing the jersey, then releasing it for sale like Saeco/Cannondale.

you are allowed to wear a different shirt design once during the season as cervelo have done in the past and as sky did this week in the ToB. All they had to do was go to the uci and the aso before the tour register the design, and they could have worn it all tour. But they think they are above all of that.
