Riccò provides his version of "the Truth"

I think the story about sneaking into a Gran Fondo without any regard to the rules or to the competitors who weren't his friends says it all. Much more interesting than his explanation of the hospital incident.

Well I'd like in to hear the "cultural" perspective of bavarianrider. :D

The granfondo scene is a perverse business, with mafia-like bribes and kickbacks. Are you kidding about the organizers being upset!? They probably hope the guy shows up at the next event to ensure an even greater turnout. ;)

Not long ago, Rumsas was kicking a$$ in the circuit even after his pro career was "over." While being payed handsomely.

The Gran Fondo story shows exactly how much regard he has for the rules - if we didn't know already.

I'm always deeply distrustful of anybody who speaks about themselves in the third person. Usually either means they've got a god complex or they're a member of a royal family.

Wow, Ricco hiding behind a house to join a Gran Fondo reminds me of this skit from Kids in the Hall - Girl Drink Drunk.

Banned from every bar, pub, and tavern, Dave Foley's character uses the last available means to get the fixings for the "girl drinks" to which he's become addicted.

RR is not helping his own cause now is he? From an entertainment POV this is gold.

If it doesn't end badly for the guy it might be humorous but this has all the hallmarks of a guy who is crashing and burning and he has a family :(

I feel the same. Too many similarities to previous stories. Pantani 34, VdB 34, Ricco's got 7 years to sort his **** out.

Let Ricco ride.

i actually think the guy needs to completely break from cycling in any capacity. He has not got the mentality to be a DS so what is for him in cycling after he's finished racing, if he is not already finished? Dealing would be my guess.:(

Let Rico race!!! I usually am against all dopers, but Rico has redeemed himself with hilarious antics like this!! please let him back in!! He would provide soooo much additional entertainment!!!! he needs to sign for radio shack and learn the ways of the ninja doper from Levi.

What is this based on? Ricco was caught for a drug that was thought to be undetectable. CERA was rumored to be in wide use, and cycling has steadfastly refused to do retrospective testing for it on samples before the 2008 Tour de France. He reportedly botched a blood transfusion when he was on a small team that probably did not have the medical program that the larger teams have. Aside from that what is there?

His major malfunction seems to be that he is a jerk who is disliked by his colleagues. They disliked him before he was caught.

You remember the whining about how he deserved to win the Giro, not Alberto? The screaming and mewling about Sella riding to protect his GC position and resultantly dragging Alberto back to him? The endless soap opera with his girlfriend testing positive and him supposedly dumping her by text message only for it to turn out to all be a ruse for public relations since he was trying to come back? The quote in the press that "how long the separation lasts depends on the outcome of her case"?

Ricardo Riccò is a compelling character. He's an utter jackass. He'd make a BRILLIANT bad guy in pro wrestling. Sadly, it seems that drug-wise, he'd fit right in there.

What does that have to do with people's fear that he will meet an untimely end like Pantani? He may be a jackass but where is the evidence that he will spiral out of control and end up dead in a hotel room?
