He deserves a thread.

A guy who couldn't do anything 2 years ago for Contador in the climbs and now rides away from him on the flat.

Impressive. He's a future GT-winner.

And will crush everyone tomorrow.

He really is a fantastic talent. Climbing second only to Froome, great TT, Cancellara like ability to ride away in the flat. Sky is a forge of prodigious talent.

Porte might be the best rider in the world right now except for Froome. He is undroppable in the mountains and can time trial like Wiggins last year. He will win the vuelta this year.

Definitely key to focus on his weak year and ignore his GT top 10 as a neo pro in his first ever Grand Tour.

Total scrub.

Lol, from a breakaway and otherwise poor competition. And neo pro? Please, don't delude yourself.

This guy has been tutored by a Mapei rider.

The sky fans said all he does was time trial his way up long steady climbs. But last few days we've seen him handle short explosive hills with tremendous ease.

Sky team for lbl - Wiggins (on top giro form) Porte, froome, henao, uran, kiri, presumably jtl and one other. When was the last time we saw a team this strong in the ardennes. More than half the team can realistically win this and kiriyenka is better than most teams leader and almost all teams second leader

How many minutes did he gain during that breakaway in the giro of 2010?

Look up his results in the climbs

You can remove the breakaway and he's still top 10. Obviously, that doesn't fit the narrative so we've all forgotten.

He still lost many minutes on every mountain stage after that. Its a very long way from that to becoming the best climber in the world.

Without the free ride there, he would've never made the top ten.

So what's Kevin Seeldraeyers doing these days? Winning Pais Vasco, Paris-Nice ,Criterium International, etc with ease?

I guess that doesn't fit your narrative.

Yeah, he finished between 10th & 20th on the climbs.

What a shocking performance for a neo pro.

The breakaway was not required for his top 10 finish.

(rolleyes)(childishpicture)(embarassinglyweakreasoning)

But if Porte didn't get in a breakaway and both Contador and Rodriguez rode, he wouldn't have finished top10.

1. He's not the best climber in the world.

2. Do you honestly believe top 10 of your first GT is an insufficient base to become a good climber.

3. Look at the names of guys he was next to in that Giro. You would happily believe this level of performance from several of them.

I've done my bit to try and bring some reality back to your group think circle jerk, so please get back to your snide remarks and ignorance of the reality of that race.

Besides Froome, who are you talking about?

What reality? That Sky can 1-2 each stage race?
