We consider ourselves custodians of this noble sport. A sport once defined by courage, sacrifice and fair play.

We have neither vested interest nor ambition; only a love for it. It is this alone that motivates and qualifies us.

We will not sit idly by and see it corrupted, and corrupted more.

In protest at the appalling depths to which it has plunged, we will be riding on bread and water alone, from Lands End to John O'Groats.

We call for:

i) The responsibility of doping control to be removed from the UCI and given to WADA, or a newly formed independent body.

ii) The IOC to assemble a task force comprising representitives drawn from sponsors, riders, Team managers, medical experts and WADA to investigate the issue of doping in cycling, and sport generally.

iii) A riders Union to be established in order to protect the rights of professional riders, and to help rehabilitate and support ex-dopers excluded from the sport.

I'm hoping to leave early next week, but very flexible if others interested. Would be good to not edit it back to the 1st person. Any suggestions/input welcome.

Great Idea, but I suggest.
1/ Give it time to allow more people to join it, and media exposure. both as supporters or riders.

2/ Get the plan better defined. Sure - split doping from UCI , but the picture needs making more comprehensive.

(Eg (I think) Make country federations prosecutors and investigators, not courts. To avoid the stupidity of the Contador decision for example. So aA single international body ( ega lower court of CAS - handles judgements on the basis of prosecution evidence from Country DAs and defence from the offending riders. and so on....

Also make McQuaids position electable more frequently, with the power to face "no confidence votes" and so on..

Make it bigger, and get the whole picture.

Could we not make it a wee bit shorter? I'll commit to a snappy 20km to the 'Old Red Lion' where I shall spark up a Marlboro, and sink an ice cold pint in staunch support... ;)
