Last year there was Phillipe Gilbert narrowly beat Marcel Kittel to the title after an incredibly dominant season, whether Gilbert can keep it up this year though is a very disputable talking point.
Kittel will of course try to usurp Gilbert and with a bolstered Project 1t4i fully supporting him and already 3 wins on the board against the top sprinters there is no doubt he will be up there.
Peter Sagan is another rider who has already shown something this year and imo he is odds on to beat his tally of 15 wins from last season.
Mark Cavendish is bound to pick up a handful of stages at the tour and along with a more sprinter friendly Giro which he has said he will finish and the fact that he is focusing more on smaller races he is definitely a favorite.
Tony Martin is another possibility due to the fact that if he continues his unbeatable form in TT then he is bound to pick up both TT and stage race wins.
Alejandro Valverde may also have a say yet only if he proves that he can beat Gilbert consistently probably very wishful but he has already shown good form with 2 stage wins in 2 hilly stages he's races.
Andre Greipel is my favorite and for obvious reasons due to his early season signs where he has been effectively unbeatable in the sprint with 5 wins so far.
For a long punt i would also say either Daniel Oss or Sacha Modolo could challenge, especially Modolo if he is allowed free reign on the Italian circuit.
