Riders with Power Meters Needed

A guy who contributes quite a bit of public science to competitive cycling discussions has asked for some volunteers to use as sample data.

who: skinny guys with power meters and skinny friends

what: ride on the hoods in the lead and draft position with your friend at 10 km/h 20 km/h 30 km/h and 50 km/h wearing tight fit cycling clothes (no wind vests jackets etc)

where: on a track or a flat windless road

and then: report your height weight and power output at each speed in the lead and drafting position

what do you get out of it: not much

If you and some friends meet the requirements, please help him out.

Sounds interesting.
We always hear those commentators claiming, "You save X amount of energy while drafting at that speed."
Curious, no 40kph. Deliberate omission or typing booboo?

I don't know what his intentions are, but it could be an accident that the ITT for the annual World Championships average about 50KMH.

I know there are forum visitors who have the power meter to do this. Please help him out.

I was thinking the easiest way to test this is hold a steady watt output in two positions and compare time over the course. Will try this Thurs on a 10K course.

You won't be able to hold a steady power and a steady relative position when following a lead rider.

There are far better means to analyse such data.

That is 12m front wheel to front wheel. Wow. That really is quite surprising. Amazing.

Yes, and it's one clear physical reason why drafting and passing (or non-passing) nightmares occur in IM and other non-draft triathlon events.

There are other reasons for the 'mare as well.
