Bronchitis :(

Can you imagine trying to ride at all with Bronchitis? Now try doing it in the pro peloton. I think he needs to withdraw and focus on his health now. Still many races to come in his career.

His main focus at this point should be worlds IMO. He'll be Colombia's leader and if he can enter it healthy, his climbing and new found strength in the TT will come in handy.

Sad to see such a strong rider having health problems. I hope he can get well and do well in the Worlds. He's usually up there in the Worlds or Olympics; maybe he can convert it to a win soon.

I thought he was OK yesterday.

More or less what trevim said. I think they try so hard to will away the sickness that they manage to keep it at bay for a couple of days but suddenly there's a moment when they have nothing left to give.

He should abandon and get well for the worlds but Rigo is no quitter. See 2011 Tour.

Get well soon Rigo. We need you for the wolrds.

I've struggled with asthmatic bronchitis for five or six days now and today it was as its worst

I also have noticed he usually rides with his shirt unzipped many times, unlike Quintana. Even in heat Quintana never opens the zipper. Remember that they are from Colombia and they train in Colombia all the time. They can be weaker than Europeans at times, so we shouldn't be doing the same things. Cold weather and weather changes lower our defenses. Why help it.

It could be something stupid but I felt the need to say it and something that I have been watching for a while in Rigo. Similar thing happened in his Tour 2011.

yesterday they should've immediately told him to take back and let go and lose 35 minutes instead of going so deep. it will only cost him towards the wc.

You're right of course, you don't mess with sereno.

He has been hit by "Spanish Sereno". LOL.

Thanks for sharing. My mom always bugged me about it.

There is a Colombian stand up comedian who made fun of it. The CD name is "La Pelota de Letras" by Andres Lopez. He made fun of all these colombian myths.

I can assure you it's not just a colombian thing :). One evening in Guatemala, I hanged my wet T-shirt outside on the clothesline.
An elderly woman: "No la dejes afuera, se te va a serenar!"
Me, thinking it really means it will get damp at night: "It doesn't matter, it's wet already, tomorrow it'll dry." I should have known better.
She flipped out: "No! No! Que se te ocurre! Se te va a serenar! El sereno es...es malo!"
I didn't really understand but I certainly didn't want to leave my T-shirt in the hands of something so plainly dangerous as el sereno, so I moved it inside.

I'll try to get my hands on La pelota de letras, thanks!

Rigo says he was given the order by the team to quit the race when he hit the wall but he loves the sport too much to do it. I guess that was in the heat of the moment stuff but now they will decide with a cool head whether it's wise to continue. I'm thinking he won't take the start tomorrow.

Yep, it's official now:
