This isn't a classic, it's irrelevant if uran has someone in the break of 25 riders.

If kreuziger is in the group, his team has to ride. Simple as that.

Having someone in the break of your team who isn't a GC threat while others teams have guys like that, it's completely irrelevant.

That's common sense man.
I think the proposed rationale of having a teammate in the break was not to avoid having to chase, but rather sending someone up the road who can help Uran once the group of favourites catches the break. I agree that this would make perfect sense for Etixx, because otherwise as we could see Uran can get isolated very quickly.

Yes, but is not easy, you need a big level to be in yesterday breakaway...
After Serry crash, just Bouet and De la Cruz climb quite well, and you need at leat one with you.

When is his contract up? Think he's gone as far as he can with Quickstep. Since the Tour is so skewed towards mountains this year, I presume it'll swing back towards TT a bit next year. Would be nice to see him do the Tour with a team who were willing and able to support him.

You need suport not only in mountains...
He think a lot before to get this team, there is no other strong team to be leader.
He had bad luck without Bambrilla and Serry, no more. Even if Tony Martin would be here, yesterday maybe couldnt follow Astana in the main climb. More than Luis leon in astana, but not much more.

If he is strong in Le Tour, he will have one of the stronger teams.

Evans was a lot of years riding without team.

This is the best performance I think of Bouet in climb (he got 3th place in Trentino but for a breakaway)

1. GBR FROOME Chris SKY 4h43'38" 25
2. AUS PORTE Richie SKY 30" 15
3. NED MOLLEMA Bauke BEL 45" 10
4. FRA PERAUD Jean-Christophe ALM 45" 5
5. USA VAN GARDEREN Tejay BMC 45" 3
6. USA TALANSKY Andrew GRS 53" 0
7. SUI TSCHOPP Johann IAM 57" 0
8. FRA GADRET John ALM 01'07" 0
9. FRA FEDRIGO Pierrick FDJ 01'08" 0
10. FRA BOUET Maxime ALM 01'08" 0
11. ITA MALACARNE Davide EUC 01'32" 0
12. FRA BARDET Romain ALM 01'32" 0
13. GER KLÖDEN Andreas RLT 01'49" 0
14. FRA COPPEL Jérôme COF 02'14" 0
15. AUS ROGERS Michael TST 02'14" 0

I hope he do something similar in some stages, Ospedale is not an small climb.

In yesterday stage it would have made a difference to a have a teammate up the road because it would have helped in the chase when he was dropped. The problem is that the team was not counting on him being dropped on this mountain.

Things have just not gone according to plan at all. No team, no health.
Rigo needs to get his act together about protecting the chest from those colds. Same thing happened at the vuelta last year.

El sereno, Uran's kryptonite.

He is done.
He went to Colombia and came back worse. We saw that in Romandie already. If he is really sick he should prepare for the Tour where the team will send a real team!!!!!!

He performed worse in Romandía last year and he was second on the Giro.

The Giro is long, he need the rest day to have a little rest and his shape will built up.

Of course his situation is bad, he has lost more than 1 minute and he has a weak team, but whoever the strongest in the last week will win the Giro, even if he is at 5 minutes (as Hesjedal)

I want to be positive but Uran has not been that guy that has recovered when fighting for GC. When he has recovered he has been very far in GC. At that point who cares. The ITT might come too late.

But I'll try to keep my hopes up. :)

One of the other three would have to fall apart for Uran to podium. Even if he rides a great TT which he is capable if, his climbing is too inconsistent but if he is sick there is not much he can do about it.

if he dont recover totally, there is nothing to do even in the ITT. But I hope today, a short and almost flat stage, he can have the necesary rest, maybe the rest day could be too late, there are some importants days before where you have to be in your best condition.

I'd love seeing Rigo on the podium or, better, winning the Giro. But even if he does great itt...Porte and Contador are no slouches in time trialling either and as someone said elsewhere, I think we will be surprised by the itt of Aru.
So he'd have to do something spectacular in the mountains as well...or wait for a bad day(s) of the others, as mentioned.

He wouldn't get much support on the Tour team if he even makes the team. They will ride for Cavendish and Kwiatkowski.
if uran is there the team will obviously ride for cavendish and him then. kwiatkowski is no gc rider

wtf is this? you do realize you can never get sick from coldness right? not a human being has ever gotten sick of that. you only become sick from bacteries and viruses. not cold, or rain or anything like that.
