this is the type of news i suggested to have a single sticked thread for

confirmed failed doping tests and accusations made by riders/cycling staff from pro teams, people that are within the phenomenon.

Known associations with doping doctors.

It's amusing how NEWS of failed tests is deemed less worthy of a thread but speculation and bum science can have thousands! Just shows the level of debate here.

In fairness, it's quiet because the team in question is RusVelo. The thread for Contador's positive, for instance, is quite big- especially when you consider that it's a 3 year old thread and there would have been far fewer posters here in 2010.

Sorry, no.

It's plainly and patently obvious 'association' is not the same, or really even of the same type, as either 'positive test' or 'direct accusation or confession'. It just ain't.

Sorry, was really responding to the guy who said such stories should all be a single stickied thread.

A single team coughing up 3 positives from one set of races I feel is worthy of its own thread.

Yep, lets have a debate about a positive test. What shall we the topic of the debate?

- Why don't Russians learn from the past?
- Is it team-wide doping?
- Are the Russians in the WT also doping or clean or on another program?
- Does it fit in some nice conspiracy theory?

For example

Let's try. I really don't think they are positives, it is just that the russians have a faulty testing machines.
I agree, I think it is a conspiracy to blacken Cookson and his Russian mob friends. Pat is at it again. He just has it in for the MPCC.

All these things are discussed in the various threads, but it is hard to find amongst all the fanboys who dont want debate, but attack those who question unreal performances, working with doping doctors, TTers learning to climb, how the move from Track to GT winner is possible so late in a career etc......

Dont believe the fanboys.

Actually, it is.

A 'positive test' is a chemical analysis of blood or urine, or an analysis of other blood values, which, as evidence, is highly probative of doping guilt.

A direct accusation by an eye-witness or colleague is, as evidence, is highly probative of doping guilt. Probably not as high as a positive test, but within spitting distance.

A mere association is not the same at all. Sorry to disappoint.

If you're going to try be clever, Cerberus, it helps if you actually are clever.

Pat Jonker said the same thing. He also said Lance never doped as well, go figure.

Looks like I could be right then :D

To be fair I've never heard anything dodgy about him (maybe blackcat/thehog know something), but his imposing presence here in the 90s is probably enough to question. Not to mention he seems to be worth about 4-5 seconds to any TP squad that picks him up.

i heard from a guy who was stuck next to a swanny from Rabo, on a major international flight.

its a he said she said uncle said best friends brother said chinese whispers sino yum cha drinking tea tale.

but when Jonker was 13th in the Tour on GC in 99 or 98 or 2001 or whenever it was, no one in the peloton was clean. then he has been recently the acolyte of merckx at Livestrong or Bontrager and the DS on the US development team.

so lets be real.

nothing on jonkers character. not a defamation. it is a realism and pragmatism position re: pro cycling on the continent.

i think the worst thing one could say about Pat, is he was cuckolded (license) in the Armstrong talking point propaganda. no need to do that. dont shill for Armstrong when no need.

ok so the team doc ordered the wrong med. sounds credible really. Fenoterol instead of Formoterol. Don't think anyone will get sanctions. just a little mistake. nothing to see here.
