I know he is young & new to the podium but I could'nt help noticing that Peter Sagan did not have a clue as to what to do with the guitar he was handed by some old guy at his presentation ceremony in Bakersfield (how does the song go), I don't know & neither did Peter.:eek:

Bakersfield - home of (the late) Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, something I'm sure Sagan is real up on. Actually that looked like by far the nicest gift yet - was probably lovingly handmade and would have really been appreciated by an American winner, much better than some woodcarving of Modesto - oh, well. Sagan has the looks of an uppity one, what with all the finger-pointing, gestures, wheelies, etc. Nice rider, though.

Ha! For once the tables have turned and it's the Europeans who are in the dark about what is going on on stage! :) Now I know what the French must feel like when Americans win and do not show enough excitement about gifts / VIP's.

I've been watching him on the podium, once in person, and he doesn't seem all that happy or thankful to the people hugging and kissing him and handing him crap and congratulating him... I'd be all like "THX I LOVE U LETS HUG FOR AN UNCOMFORTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME WHILE I WEEP ON YOUR SHOULDER" but he is like "meh, a guitar.. i'll just put this here on the ground... i wonder what color my lamborghini should be... damn i'm the man..." is it messed up for me to be concerned, nervous, paranoid, about his awesome results simply because he is from a small eastern euro country and riding for liquigass? I find that I am a mixture of happy for this young kid and slightly nervous...
