At this point it's unclear whether he has just started the season in great form and will quickly burn out, or if he's going to become a points merchant for the rest of the 2025 and beyond, but it can't be denied that he's flying at the moment. Having now taken his first victory since his two stage wins in the 2022 Adriatica Ionica Race, is he now on the path to getting a major result in his dream race (according to this 2021 interview), Flèche Wallonne?
Christian Fun Facts:
Born 16th October (Libra) 1997 in Brescia
175 cm, 63 kg
Lives in San Marino (I'm unsure about his feelings towards cats, but his GF appears to have a dog)
Nickname: La Volpe 🦊
Is a Milanista (meaning a fan of AC Milan, not of Jonathan), perhaps influenced by his local legend Andrea Pirlo
I don't know whether he has any relation to current ACM chairman Paolo Scaroni
According to the aforementioned interview, he was quite annoyed that an old spelling mistake on a racing licence had made people think he was called Cristian
Italian JR RR champion in 2015
He decided to leave the Italian scene at 21 and joined the FDJ development team in order to ride more foreign races.
He had hoped that FDJ would offer him a WT contract afterwards, which made him turn down Gazprom initially, but that offer never arrived. Maybe they're regretting that decision now
