At this point it's unclear whether he has just started the season in great form and will quickly burn out, or if he's going to become a points merchant for the rest of the 2025 and beyond, but it can't be denied that he's flying at the moment. Having now taken his first victory since his two stage wins in the 2022 Adriatica Ionica Race, is he now on the path to getting a major result in his dream race (according to this 2021 interview), Flèche Wallonne?

He decided to leave the Italian scene at 21 and joined the FDJ development team in order to ride more foreign races.
He had hoped that FDJ would offer him a WT contract afterwards, which made him turn down Gazprom initially, but that offer never arrived. Maybe they're regretting that decision now

I've heard of the cycling manager videogame. games and videogames are not my thing. never owned a videogame even as a kid

I have a Slovenian son, recently i noticed he removed the rtadej pogacar posters from his bedroom walls, and now his walls are plastered with pictures of Cristian scaroni, his victories, his Astana kits, scaroni quotes etc. my son asked me also if he can paint the walls Astana sky blue

He told me that he did this because he wants to fit in his school. In the morning when he arrives, the classmates are discussing the prowess of Christian, how can a rider be so consistent and versatile, his moral victories, for example in laigueglia. Scaroni is the idol of a lot of kids in slocenia.

We saw with pogacar a consistent rider, but he did few race days, taking weeks at a time for training camps etc, he didn't ever do it like scaroni, performingg week in and week out as the best rider, sprints, climbs descents and grinta.

Just as in Italy, I'm betting on a 'scaroni fever' in slowenia that will only snowball in the coming months.
