Weather: sunny, no wind, BORING

Women‘s Race: same profile but only 130 km because women don‘t have endurance, apparently. Lorena Wiebes is probably favorite so SD Worx will control the race.

On a slightly more serious note, at least tomorrow's Itzulia stage won't clash with any echelon action action whatsoever.

MvP was superb in leadout role for Phillipsen this year, why change winning combination?

Cause there is like a 50% chance he'll be involved in a massive crash if he tries to do work in the last 5km. It's the Scheldeprijs and it will be a bunch sprint, multiple crashes are guaranteed.

It's the Scheldeprijs, not an actual WC or important monument. No reason to risk Paris Roubaix for this race.

imo MvdP is better on a more twisty type of finish, where he can go long from the front, not when timing plays a part. And it just comes with too much danger to miss Roubaix.

Must be the first (?) time Meeus gets the full Bora train, by the way. Too bad they all crashed on Sunday, though ;)

It's not up to us to decide whether risk is worth it or not, we'll see how team will do. Maybe this race is important for the sponsor. If MvP is not here for leadout, then why he is racing at all?

some just prefer a race over a long training ride they'd do anyway today. Cancellara has done the Scheldeprijs three times but never finished within less than a couple of minutes to the winner, for example. Boonen didn't challenge in the later years of his career either.

But yeah, with this new finish it could be a different story maybe. It's the first time it's likely to see a big sprint, and on paper at least looks less dangerous. Going by the Roodhooft interview today, MvdP may do the leadout indeed.

Yeah, but MvP didn't do G-W or Dwars prior to RVV

The sprinters' alternative to Scheldeprijs this week, the Pays de la Loire Tour, seems even worse: I haven't seen any coverage (nor do I know if any exists), but both stages have many riders with a 0:00 time gap, but crossing the line behind people who have several minutes time gap. Never a good sign. Whatever happened yesterday, Bouhanni was a DNS today.
